Historia
It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

Get ready to spend some credits
Revisado: 01-11-21
This is such an amazing series. The first book will introduce you to some wonderful people, and I’m afraid you will be forced to buy the rest of the series because you will be sad to leave Mitford each time you reach the end.

Amazing story, Wrong narrator
Revisado: 01-11-21
This is a wonderful addition to the Mitford series that answers many lingering questions, but the problem is that it’s the wrong narrator. Scott Sowers is very talented, and I’d be very happy with him in another book, but he’s not John McDonough. John McDonough IS father Tim, and Cynthia, and Dooley. The book was great but it was hard to feel as though it was father Tim. On the bright side, at least it wasn’t the abomination of an abridged book. I had to skip those completely.

Deeply disappointing
Revisado: 08-31-20
This version of Ender’s Game took one of the best books I’ve ever read, and turned it into a children’s book. Given that it was already a great book for all ages I don’t understand why this version exists. I despise abridged books in general but this is even worse since it doesn’t just remove sections, but also changes some all together in ways that make for a far less engaging story.

Comic book fans only unfortunately
Revisado: 07-27-20
I didn’t really know what this was when I bought it. It was on the front page being advertised and had great reviews so I just got it. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of comic books, and this is definitely a long comic book rather than a novel. The story feels incredibly erratic (bouncing quickly between scenes) with shallow back story and dialog. The base story is interesting and I’m sure comic fans will love it but it’s just not for me

This is a tough one
Revisado: 04-25-20
It’s a really good book, and the narrator is excellent, but there is a problem I had a really hard time getting past. This story revolves around an alien incursion and these aliens have a language which is gibberish. No serious problem there, but the narrator used the alien accent which is extremely grating. Most books deal with this by using it a few times and then translating or explaining it away, but this screeching was consistent throughout the whole book. The book is very funny and well preformed other wise so if you can get past that one thing then you’ll certainly enjoy it

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it, and that is a very good thing. This book is definitely funny, but it also has a lot of depth. Downloading the next book in the series right now.

Delightful in so many ways
Revisado: 09-08-17
Yes the basic outline is similar to suicide squad, but this is so much better in my opinion. This book is funny and light hearted with enough tension to keep it real, but that tension is dealt with light heartedly. On top of everything else, the narration is incredible. The voices of Mech and Miz are worth the credit alone.

after finishing "the long way to a small angry planet" I so wanted the story to continue that I was thrilled to see there was a second book and immediately downloaded it without reading the summary or any reviews. This book is all about lovelace, pepper, and blue. While I did want to hear more about them, I also really wanted to catch up with kizzy, sisix, and the rest of the wayfarer crew. They were completely absent from this book which was disappointing, but this was an amazing book in its own right.

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

One of the best series ever

Any additional comments?
This series is easily among the best books i've ever read, and at this point that is quite a long list. If you are concerned about the length then let me say this, when it ends you will be downloading year 2 as fast you possible. It takes time to really build characters, and this author does it with a skill that I simply cannot fathom. How such complete worlds and people can come from someone's brain is just beyond my understanding. This series is a bit like Harry Potter in that it takes place in a school where people are learning something different from everyone else, super powers instead of magic in this case, but this takes place at college age instead of high school. I don't know what else I can say except for, start this journey now and you'll never regret it!

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

If you are tired of reading books that follow the same formula over and over, then this will be a welcome break. I was hesitant at first because it seemed a little more serious than I prefer, but sometimes authors are just so good that it doesn't matter what the book is about. This case is great because the author is amazing, and so are the characters that they chose to create. The Golem and the Jinni are almost complete opposites, but they fascinate each other, and learn from the other. Don't think you'll be disappointed by this story
