Historia
In the wake of World War II, four agents were critical in helping build a new organization that we now know as the CIA. Adelaide Hawkins, Mary Hutchison, Eloise Page, and Elizabeth Sudmeier, called the “wise gals” by their male colleagues because of their sharp sense of humor and even quicker intelligence, were not the stereotypical femme fatale of spy novels.

Didn’t finish
Revisado: 01-15-25
Like another review I couldn’t get into this book. Maybe if it was in print I could look at the notes but I thought it strange to have dialogue and what the individuals were feeling. The author did mention diaries but was there really dialogue and emotions written. I felt like it was more of a bio pic where the author was trying to evoke an emotion where what I wanted was facts.
I like the subject but the style just wasn’t for me.

Good start to basic words
Revisado: 10-18-24
This was a good introduction to basic words. I did find it wasn’t musical like I was thinking. I thought there word be songs to help remember words, but it was just background beats. After a while that got annoying. I still hear the beat in my head but not so much the words.
I did like hearing the words spoken by a native speaker. And it was slow and pretty clear. Definitely downloaded the pdf to follow along. I didn’t at first and wondered why the words in the group were in a weird order. It is because they are alphabetical in English. I would have liked similar items together; arm, hand, fingers rather than alphabetical.
I will go through it again to try to remember more words.

Historia
The summer before his senior year in college, Greg Melville worked at the cemetery in his hometown, and thanks to hour upon hour of pushing a mower over the grassy acres, he came to realize what a rich story the place told of his town and its history. Thus was born Melville’s lifelong curiosity with how, where, and why we bury and commemorate our dead. Melville’s Over My Dead Body is a lively (pun intended) and wide-ranging history of cemeteries, places that have mirrored the passing eras in history but have also shaped it.

Death should be something we talk about
Revisado: 09-18-23
I enjoyed this book. The visiting of cemeteries is a small part of our travels, but we don’t usually know the history of them. The use of focusing on an individual cemetery to travel us through time was engaging. I learned a lot and think we should talk about our death and where we want to be to make it easier on the loved ones we leave behind.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 06-13-22
I truly enjoyed this book. I am a fan of other Andy Weir books. I admit I am not a scientist so the science didn’t bother me; it is a fictional story. But I did look up online others’ analysis of the science. I still found the book fascinating. I like thinking beyond what we are so sure of here. Who knows what we still have to learn from the universe?

Historia
Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

A journey not a science book
Revisado: 05-27-22
While Mr Pollan is a good writer this book is about his caffeine journey more than the science. If you have read other books on coffee, tea, or soda there isn’t much new. I feel a bit of the story was hyperbole because I was hoping for more science and less feelings.
But if you like to read stories of a person’s experiences you might like this.
