Historia
1787. Captain Edward Brazier is on a mission: recently paid off from his frigate and comfortably off with prize money, he is headed to Deal to propose marriage to the young and lovely widow Betsey Langridge. He must navigate the bustle of the town's narrow streets that are busy with legal, illicit and depraved business flowing from and around the ships at dock. But all does not go well; between Betsey's brother and guardian, Henry Tulkington, prohibiting the match and Brazier marked out for trouble by a local smuggling gang, his plans are in disarray.

I was disappointed in this series and Thankful he only wrote two books. I listened to the audio version and to say it dragged along would be an understatement. The so called hero fell flat and took an entire 11 hours to court the girl only to lose her in the end. And then the book ends right there!
The second book is turning out to be more of the same. His other books are way better.

Historia
It's 1811, and the threat of revolution haunts the upper classes of King George III's England. Then a beautiful young woman is found savagely murdered on the altar steps of an ancient church near Westminster Abbey. A dueling pistol found at the scene and the damning testimony of a witness both point to one man - Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, a brilliant young nobleman shattered by his experience in the Napoleonic Wars.

Unspeakable crime
Revisado: 03-23-17
What made the experience of listening to What Angels Fear the most enjoyable?
Personally I liked the budding fellowship between Sebastian and young Tom. The fact that a high born gentlemen finds admirable qualities in a young street urchin, someone he would normally dismiss, but because of the circumstances he is forced into he now sees life from a different point of view.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like the Irish Doctor. He is the center in Sebastian's now unbalanced world.
What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She breathes life into each character. A great performance.
Any additional comments?
There is an ongoing mystery of the hero's parentage and if you latch onto that you must continue to read through the series.

The Demon Highlander, misunderstood, misjudged
Revisado: 03-23-17
Would you listen to The Highlander again? Why?
Yes, and I have. It is not as strong a story as the first two but is no less a story. There is not as much fear here. The action is a bit less. This is more a romance of the heart. A kind of beauty and the beast story. The helpless maiden meets the misunderstood beast. Through kindness and caring she takes him and finds her our hearts blood.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked that the two heroes from book one and book two play an important part in helping this couple find each other. And that in end they all team up to put down evil.

Historia
The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the privilege, although some might call it a burden, of knowing that war cannot be avoided.

Any additional comments?
If you read to escape to far away places, I recommend you continue through all of the Outlander novels. There is a strong sense being and living through the times the author is writing about. Done with a touch of humor and a punch of reality. And then you step off the cliffs into the realm of possibility, with a slight amount of faith that all things are possible. After all, there really are standing stones, God's of all beliefs. Why not? ...... Pass through and see where you end up!

Lost Love, Dedicated Hearts
Revisado: 08-25-16
I loved the story line of this book. Kerrigan Byrne is a wonderful writer. Derek Perkins is a great narrator. We read stories like these to take a vacation from our real lives and this was a very good trip. Young love so sweet and innocent. A young boy who finds his fairy only to lose her. He never stops loving her, searching for her. She is as true to him and when they finally find each other it's a trial to find their way back to each other.
It's a great story. A little bit lost princess, unjust punishment, and villainous intrigue. I hope she writes more on these characters. Perhaps a story for the chief inspector. I'd love a book about him or the demon Highlander's brother from her newest book. I'll be waiting!

Everyone Loves A Strong Silent Alpha Male
Revisado: 08-25-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely!
What other book might you compare The Hunter to and why?
Darkest Before Dawn, by Maya Banks ... Hancock is another Villain/Hero. Personally I like these type of men. They fight evil the only way they know how, single-handed. They give no quarter, trust no one, & are totally shocked to learn they have a heart.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Christopher Argent was begging Millie to wake and he proceeds to spill his heart to her.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If only I could. But I've already listened to it three times this year.
Any additional comments?
I cried for the boy who lost his Mother. I got caught up in the thrill of the hunt. I feared for the damsel in distress. Finally, I loved the man who found his way to the light.

The weakest link
Revisado: 08-25-16
What did you like best about When Day Breaks? What did you like least?
Though I love the KGI series, this was my least favorite. Maya put far too much mutual admiration for more than half the book. After reading it for the second time, I found myself asking her to "come on! Enough is enough already!" After that though it picks up.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I was happy that it all works well for the hero.
What about Adam Paul’s performance did you like?
Sometimes it felt like he was trying to speed read past the mushy stuff but then who could blame him. This book had too much.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
Any additional comments?
Don't get me wrong it's still a good book but not as much action packed as the others.

Midshipman Bolitho
Revisado: 03-06-16
This is a good story. There was only one problem, somewhere around chapter 12 the narration began to repeat and reread about 4 chapters. The writer did his research. He was very specific about the workings of a ship of the times. However, I found the names of the characters made it difficult to follow the story and thus interfered with the flow. There were new characters introduced later but there was not enough time spent on them and who they were for me to get invested in there purpose. All in all it was a nice short story.
