Historia
For as long as anyone can remember, Britt-Marie has been an acquired taste. It's not that she's judgmental or fussy or difficult - she just expects things to be done in a certain way. A cutlery drawer should be arranged in the right order, for example - forks, knives, then spoons. We're not animals, are we? But behind the passive-aggressive, socially awkward, absurdly pedantic busybody is a woman who has more imagination, bigger dreams and a warmer heart than anyone around her realizes.

A Woman Called Ove
Revisado: 08-11-17
Who was your favorite character and why?
Everyone in this story was great, and really easy to picture and associate with.
What about Joan Walker’s performance did you like?
It was incredible.
Any additional comments?
This book is almost the exact same principle as A Man Called Ove, but staring a woman. If you enjoyed that story and wish you could read it again (as I did), I highly recommend this one!

Historia
At seven minutes past midnight, thirteen-year-old Conor wakes to find a monster outside his bedroom window. But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting - he’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the nightmare he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments. The monster in his backyard is different. It’s ancient. And wild. And it wants something from Conor. Something terrible and dangerous. It wants the truth.

Amazing Performance, not a great story for audio
Revisado: 03-22-17
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The story itself was very predictable, and there wasn't any big hook or interesting spin at the end. When it ended, I was left with a feeling of, "that's it?". The little mini stories throughout were kind of cool.
Which character – as performed by Jason Isaacs – was your favorite?
The grandmother. I don't know if you're supposed to think she's awesome, but I did. I completely empathized with her, and loved her as a strong female lead. I was as frustrated with Connor as she was at some parts!
Any additional comments?
The performance for this book was absolutely incredible! There was so much life and emotion in the reader's voice. I bought this as a daily deal not expecting much, and was completely blown away. The story itself was alright, but not great for audio. There were some awkward parts that didn't transfer well as audio, for example all of the "blinking" that happens. There are so many other words the author could have used for this, and picturing everyone just blinking stone faced at each other made it seem very awkward, and at times broke the immersion. Also, all the screaming at the end got really tedious, really fast. The performance was spectacular, and I would buy another book with the same reader, but not the same author.

Good narration, story was eh
Revisado: 07-09-16
The narration was good. The story was somewhat predictable. The ending felt like the author just wrapped it up quickly out of nowhere because even they could feel the story beginning to drag and drift around.
