Gotcha ending attacking the Universal Christian Church. Not worth reading. Evil trash. Sad political correctness that the Church wars against.

Thought provoking, comic, and well written meditation on death and life. Humanity living on the edge. A desperate man distilling his life, obsessed with his mortality. Michael Prichard gives a measured performance delving into the mystery of humanity’s living under the threat of death at any time. Delillo writes brilliantly.

Where to now?

Ambitiously written first installment of a trilogy so the plot and sub-plots of this are wide open. All one can ask is, Where to now? There is much to track and swallow, the narrative expansive, the ensemble of characters large, the momentum of the story not propelled but a can kicked down the road. Properly this novel can only be evaluated properly with the trilogy complete. Yet, with just this novel, reading another installment is not guaranteed. Reading the author’s bio, the novel wreaks of literary workshopping. The author needs to tighten the style, streamline the writing, cut the adjectives, and ensure all the arrows are pointed in the same direction. Despite the writing smorgasbord, the performance of the Audible narrator excels.

Dick Hill does a decent job narrating. Some of the characters he portrays are over the top. His voice is a bit clownish at times, and irritating. The novel, however, is suspenseful and intriguing.

A Bond with foibles and weaknesses

Rory Kinnear does the portrayal of James Bond 007 as best as I have ever enjoyed by an Audible performer, even the smooth Simon Vance, who I admire. Kinnear has the tone and voice of one of the most identifiable protagonists in modern fiction to pitch perfect heights. Horowitz takes the Ian Fleming Bond franchise beyond John Gardner (although I enjoy Gardner’s treatment of Bond). WITH A MIND TO KILL is well structured and intensely compelling, especially as we are taken back to the 1960s Soviet Union and the depths of the Cold War. It is Bond’s mind that has been manipulated, and the reader comes caught up with a Bond with foibles, physically and mental for which he struggles.

A remarkably exciting and intense, action-packed espionage novel. Horowitz writes with imagination and clarity. David Oyelowo’s performance is one of the best Audible performances I have experienced.

This is an excellent memoir, clearly and compellingly written, and instructive and intelligent. This is required reading for trial lawyers and law students. Also admirable and commendable is Pomerantz’s clear and well-paced narration.
