Excellent story! Perfect narrator! Fabulous modern take on one of your favorite old stories from one of your very favorite old authors. No spoiler here listen and you’ll discover it yourself.
- House on Maple Street
Great story! Questionable narrator. It sounds like she has a slight speech impediment, which is an odd choice for an audiobook narrator, but in any event her overpowering accent is just past the line of annoying. Also odd background noises, which obviously were intended to be dramatic, but really were mostly just distracting.

The millions of people around the world who loved What If? still have questions, and those questions are getting stranger. Thank goodness xkcd creator Randall Munroe is here to help. Planning to ride a fire pole from the Moon back to Earth? The hardest part is sticking the landing. Hoping to cool the atmosphere by opening everyone’s freezer door at the same time? Maybe it’s time for a brief introduction to thermodynamics. Want to know what would happen if you rode a helicopter blade, made a lava lamp out of lava, or jumped on an erupting geyser? Okay, if you insist.

Meh
Revisado: 04-23-24
Will Wheaton was of course stellar in his narration. And he did the best he could to improve this book.
However, while it pains me to give Randall Munroe anything less than 11 stars, this followup book was just not up to the first one. First one rocked! This second one was very rambly, often unpleasant writing, and even antagonistic to readers. You're better than this Mr. Munroe.
Not as big a comedown to trash level as Ernest Cline did from Ready Player One to Ready Player Two.. but still.. meh.
YMMV of course, but I'd encourage you to read all the 3-star reviews here on Amazon of this book, they pretty succinctly show why this book is.. IMO.. meh.
Returned unfinished for refund.

The Serenity crew head to Yell City, one of the settlements on Abel, a moon in the Rim. Their job: track down the killers of a local lawyer shot dead in the streets by a local gang. Their client is Annie Roberts, the eighteen-year-old daughter of the murdered man. Lucky for them, Annie Roberts is more than capable of handling herself. Unlucky for them, the job is lot more complicated than they at first think it is. Annie’s father is not just the victim of local gang violence but also the target of some powerful men.

What A HUGE Disappointment!!
Revisado: 10-05-23
First off.. to all the poor reviews of this title.. DITTO!!
I mean, what The Freak???!! This was horrible.. could not even finish listening. Emily Lawrence stinks. Screachy nasty voice with ridiculous faux accent - and that's just her main character. She completely butchers the voices of all our favorite characters. Who in the heck thought this was a good idea?? WHY add another narrator?? James Foster has all the characters voices perfected. IF y'all HAD to add another narrator then let that person do ONE voice.. in this case Annie... which she would still stink at, but WHY have her try and voice the rest of Firefly Crew when James Foster was already doing those voices?? She has no understanding or respect for any of the characters. Has she ever even listened to or watched Firefly? A completely stupid layout.. awful.
Could not finish listening... was really looking forward to this listen on a road trip vacation. Returned book.. though even if Amazon didn't let me return it I still would not have listened and would have deleted it. It stinks.
The 419th time Emily Lawrence squawked out "daddy".. in the first chapter.. I wanted to vomit. Admittedly tho this was the author's fault.. crap writing - crap! Too many things to regurgitate about it, but for one Zoe mutinying on Mal?? NEVER!
Now on to James Foster.. what the heck man?? He has absolutely defined the voices of these characters post-TV show, nailed it perfect.. until.. the last book he was started to sound disinterested, and in this book, when he was allowed to read, he was still James Foster good, but far from his normal Great! Sounded like he dreaded every moment of reading the story and was just phoning it in. Perhaps the poor guy is sick?
Now I can understand that if he was forced to work with that hack Emily Lawrence, but I fear it's bad signs of things to come. Are they phasing out James Foster and grooming this loud, cartoon-voiced Lawrence in his place? If so then they are also phasing out ever selling anymore of these audiobooks.
Whoever is in charge of this production pay attention!! This was a crap stupid decision, terrible production, and poor story line. At the very least the whole dang thing should be re-recorded with James Foster narrating solo, and perk him up a bit more.
Story ruined. Experience ruined. Disappointed in the extreme.

Chewbacca Speaks English/Basic??!
Revisado: 01-14-20
Great rendition.. closely parallels the Expanded Edition.. so close in fact one can only assume they were written in tandem. But the Junior Novel is a very decent and fun read. While it does miss a couple important plot points from Expanded Edition, it also adds a couple.
The one unconscionable and glaring problem with this version is the ridiculous decision to have Chewbacca speak English/Basic!! That is a major detail change... you might as well make Leia a rodian for crying out loud!

As a child Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating - and waiting for suitable prey.

Great Story, annoying narrator
Revisado: 11-04-19
Narrator has great enunciation, good characterizations, good pacing, consistent level, decent accents. So why only two stars? Picture if you will a world class actor, let's say Sean Connery, giving a tremendous awesome performance, wearing a clown nose and big pink bunny ears. No matter how good the performance it is ridiculously annoying with clown nose and bunny ears. It is like that with Jeff Harding. He reads every line with a sing song tone rise and drop, rise and drop. da da Da DAH, da da Da DAH, da da Da DAH, da da Da DAH. Most. Every. Line.
Dialogue he does better with. But his general narration is very annoying and distracting. He appears to be channeling Duke Nukem. Which is not necessarily bad, but Duke only gives short phrases. Definitely not suited to a novel.
Note to author: If you're going to do another book, and we hope you do, get Jeff to do a better job, or get a new narrator.
Additionally, though I really want to hear your next two books in this series, I can NOT stand another minute of Jeff's buffoon style reading. Also, am returning this audiobook as I am very dissatisfied.

SARDONICALLY HE WROTE A REVIEW FOR THE BOOK...
Revisado: 07-07-19
Like all of Timothy Zahn's novels, when he discovers a new word he uses it repeatedly and over and over time again and frequently. In this case he apparently just learned the word 'sardonic', and so we get to hear sardonic, sardonical, sardonically. It's not a bad word at all, but repetition makes it annoying. Perhaps overly critical of me, but this costs the story a star for me. As for other criticisms of the story... None! At first I thought he made Leia a bit too pedantic, but then I recall that is exactly how she was played in the early movies.
Production value is very high, only point of criticism here is some of the background sound effects are a bit overwhelming at times.. either too loud, or too repetitive. The 'nightlife' on various planets, along with being identical from planet to planet, sounds like a 3-second audio clip looped... quite bothersome.
Performance is absolutely top-notch. consistent voice volume, clear enunciation, clear and consistent distinction between characters. It is amusing to hear Marc Thompson use rote characterizations such as Ricardo Montalban and Jon St. John (aka Duke Nukem) and others. But again, he uses them consistently and it works very well to distinguish the characters while you're listening. For canon characters such as Han and Lando and R2D2 he performs a very close and acceptable imitation. Though I do prefer his Lando voice from "Solo" book to the one he uses in DFR.

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

good sometimes great but...
Revisado: 06-30-19
Battle scenes excellent. Back story great. Characters awesome. however... very redundant in spots, slow moving in many places.
Narrator good characterizations, but voice level Inconsistent inconsistent. Extremely difficult to hear in many places, when you turn the volume up, and then it is blasting with next voice. overall enjoyable, but definitely could be improved to remove annoying things.

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.
