Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Surprising good book.
Revisado: 10-21-24
Alright-Alright-Alright, I was expecting to like this book. While I enjoy looking at Matthew, I didn’t know if I could take him for hours.
It was great from start to finish. MM spins his lives journeys with his own motivational aspirations and personal growth, which are inspiring to the listener.
I loved the reason for the name of the book Green Lights, and how he masterfully articulated the positive aspects of something as simply as a traffic light.
Hearing his relationship stories and how each one in his life made some type of impact on him. I can totally relate.
Definitely a must read each year for me. To help keep me in check with my world and those in it.

Historia
For years, young Mud and her family have roamed the high grasses, swamps, and deserts of the sub-Sahara. Now the earth is scorched by drought, and the mutilated bodies of family and friends lie scattered on the ground, shot down by ivory hunters. Nothing - not the once familiar terrain, or the age-old rhythms of life, or even memory itself - seems reliable anymore. Yet a slim prophecy of hope is passed on from water hole to water hole: the sacred white bone of legend will point the elephants toward the Safe Place.

A decent premise wasted on terrible writing.

Lovely tearjerker
Revisado: 10-21-24
This book was suggested to me by my older sister. Being a lover of animal and books where animals can make you feel like you’re in the story with them, is amazing.
The White Bone gives you that kind of freedom to enjoy and cry over their journeys.

Historia
Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans - though no one calls them that anymore. His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the "Transition". Now, eating human meat - "special meat" - is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

Just okay
Revisado: 10-21-24
The story is a disturbing reminder that we have the ability to harm people not only without consequences, but for our way of living. I would have like to have heard more about the how their current situation came to pass.
The narrator accent was lovely, except when he was speaking for another character. The dialect was not consistent.
The ending was as expected, I agree with the wife to keep her for breeding, then enter the Handmade’s Tale.
I was originally excited to read the book based on the title alone. Overall it was a disappointment, and I was not expecting it would make me feel disappointed. I was expecting to be absolutely devastated for mankind. It didn’t happen.

Historia
This acclaimed best seller from popular historian Alison Weir is a fascinating look at the Tudor family dynasty and its most infamous ruler. The Six Wives of Henry VIII brings to life England’s oft-married monarch and the six wildly different but equally fascinating women who married him. Gripping from the first sentence to the last and loaded with fascinating details, Weir’s rich history is a perfect blend of scholarship and entertainment.

I love British History and the author provides an outstanding view of Henry the 8th and his 6 wives.
