If you could sum up The Lake House in three words, what would they be?

Touching detective story

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alice. She was by far the center of the story.

What about Caroline Lee’s performance did you like?

Wonderful

If you could take any character from The Lake House out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Alice... she is so interesting

Any additional comments?

I have yet to read a book by Kate Morton I don’t like. Her stories are full of surprises and unexpected outcomes. I love how she stirs us precisely to the right conclusions in a methodological and articulate way. The Lake House is a fantastic read. The characters are complex and multifaceted. Each brings a twist to the story and offers an explanation to what really happened that Midsummer’s Eve in 1933. This is a touching detective story; it tells how far people will go to keep a promise.

The cover is gorgeous! The story is interesting and I can see how this could possibly become a series of movies. I did not know much about mermaids and mermen, but after reading this book I am interested to know more. It was a good book and I hope to get to the next book some time soon.

What did you love best about As You Wish?

I truly enjoyed getting to hear about the before, during and after the making of The Princess Bride. The stories were so touching. I also laughed out loud so many times. What a wonderful book!

What other book might you compare As You Wish to and why?

None that I can think of.

Which scene was your favorite?

The one when Cary broke his big toe!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Funny question!! I guess I would call it The making of The Princess Bride!

Any additional comments?

The Princess Bride is my all time favourite movie!!! When I heard that Cary Elwes wrote a book on the making of this beautiful movie; I had to get a copy and read it. It was such a delight to read about the fantastic writer, William Goldman; the outstanding director, Rob Reiner; and the top notch actors and film crew. Cary covers so many wonderful stories of the before, during and after the movie. He succeeded to portrait how much fun they all had and how this movie, although not a blockbuster in the theatres, became a triumph with the introduction of VHS and it still a success to this day.

The Princess Bride is more than just a movie.. it is a phenomenon. People quote this movie regularly with sentences like "As you wish"; "Please consider me as an alternative to suicide."; "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." and not to forget Vizzini's famous word: "Inconceivable".

The book is beautifully written. It contains so many great stories. Many of them made me laugh out loud... some made me cry.

If you are a fan of this timeless movie; I recommend you get a copy of this book and "Have fun stormin’ da castle."

Would you listen to 21 Days to Change Your Body again? Why?

Yes... This book is filled with awesome tips and by listening to it again; it would be easier to remember them all.

What did you like best about this story?

This book was written by someone who had real struggles with weight lost and stayed true to herself.

What does Teresa Willis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I was able to listen to the book on my commute to work.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Onward and forward

Any additional comments?

I have read my fair share of diet books in my lifetime and I was sure that this would be another "Miracle" way to lose weight. Well... it was not! This book has nothing to do with miracles; it is all about common sense; about making the right changes in your life. It teaches you that making the right choices when it comes to food and exercise can be hard and that you should not fool yourself to think that this is only a temporary change... this is a life change.

"Your overall goal is to learn to give your body what it needs to be healthy -- not to live by numbers and obsessions. Constantly thinking about food choices, learning better habits, and educating yourself about portion sizes are all a necessary part of learning your new lifestyle but once they are ingrained in you, then you should not have to think about things quite so hard."

Helen Ryan shares her own experience and struggles. She does not hide her failures and is grateful of her successes. Her book was definitely food for thoughts and I already started to apply some of her suggestions. I still have a long way before I get to where I would like to be, but I honestly got a good kick in the butt from reading this book.

What made the experience of listening to Before I Go to Sleep the most enjoyable?

Orlagh Cassidy did a fantastic job at reading this book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Before I Go to Sleep?

When Christine meets Claire after being separated for so long.

What does Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can drive while I listen to her... I can't do the same with a book. :)

If you could take any character from Before I Go to Sleep out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Claire... she sounds like a great gal!

Any additional comments?

I discovered that there are a lot of book lovers at my workplace; so I decided to create a book club which will meet every two months. The first book we selected is "Before I Go To Sleep".

This was a very quick read. I was concerned that it would be something similar to "50 First Dates" and I was glad that it was not. Then I was wondering how the author would be able to keep the readers interested, considering that the main character has no recollection of the previous days or weeks or months or years as a matter of a fact. S.J. Watson did a "tour de force" and kept me reading to know what will happen in the next page. I developed several theories as I was reading and although some proved themselves correct; some were wrong and I was surprise by the story outcome. Very clever!

The only disappointment was that there are loose ends in the story and unanswered questions. I will have to keep an eye for a Q&A with the author so I can ask some questions to clarify these unknown facts.

I do recommend the book. It is a great and fast read. I decided not to go see the movie because the book was good enough and movies have a way to spoil a good thing. :)

What made the experience of listening to While We’re Far Apart the most enjoyable?

Suzanne Toren was very good at changing her voice and tone to differentiate between characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of While We’re Far Apart?

When Penny finally realised who is her true love.

Which character – as performed by Suzanne Toren – was your favorite?

Penny

If you could rename While We’re Far Apart, what would you call it?

No suggestion

Any additional comments?

This book is surprisingly good! It follows the recipe of a well written book. It has great characters, countless contrasts and abundant conflicts. I had some doubts before starting to read it because it is categorized as a Christian book. In my past experience with Christian books, I noticed that the story is often lost among all the preaching. It is not the case with this book. As a matter of a fact, the book has great historical facts and beautiful moral values.

The story is set during World War II. I can easily tell that the author researched the period well and stayed true to the events of the time. There are many characters in the story and they come in and out of each other lives. Nevertheless, the reader does not get lost as the book is well structured and each character has an important part to play in the revealing of the story. I really enjoyed it and recommend it!

Would you listen to Defending Jacob again? Why?

The book a awesome, but I never listen to a book twice.

What other book might you compare Defending Jacob to and why?

Can't think of one

Have you listened to any of Grover Gardner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Who was the most memorable character of Defending Jacob and why?

Neal Logiudice.... you just love to hate him.

Any additional comments?

It has been a while since I read a great courtroom book. "Defending Jacob" is definitely in that category. There are two stories in this book which come into a collision in the end. I was particularly interested to know more about some of the new sciences used to prove the innocence or the guiltiness of an accused. What if one day they can tell if someone will have violent or criminal tendencies just by looking at the genetic making of that person? Where would this lead? That's a scary thought! I rather believe that there goodness in everyone and that you are not what your genetic matter is... well at least I hope so.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend it as a light story, perfect for a summer read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sophie's mother: until she appeared in the book, the story had no life.

Have you listened to any of Jennifer O'Donnell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction except to enjoy it.

Any additional comments?

I was taken by this story of hardship and by the lives of so many beautiful characters. This is a story of true love and unbreakable friendship. It was captivating and as the chapters went by, the story bloomed into an account of perseverance, hope and joy.

Would you try another book from Renee Pawlish and/or Johnny Peppers?

Yes. I like detective stories.

If you’ve listened to books by Renee Pawlish before, how does this one compare?

I never listened to her books before. This was the first one.

Which character – as performed by Johnny Peppers – was your favorite?

Amanda! He had her path down. :)

Could you see This Doesn't Happen in the Movies being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I think so. Reed Ferguson should be played by Liam Neeson.

Any additional comments?

My Review:
I always loved the old detective film noir. This book has that flavour with a modern twist. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I particularly enjoyed the grand finale which was worthy of a Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep ending.

This was a fun story filled with action and surprising twists. Great book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! This is one fun and action filled story that would appeal to many of my reader friends.

What other book might you compare Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes to and why?

Sleeping in Eden by Nicole Baart

Have you listened to any of Frances Fuller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this was the first one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wish I had the time to listen to a book in one sitting, but that is not the case.

Any additional comments?

It has been a while since I enjoyed a book as much as I enjoyed this one. This was a fun light story filled with action and lots of trouble. The main character, Rose, was an unusual damsel in distress. Now that I think about it... she appeared to be needing help, but in fact, she was very resourceful and proved herself to be able to stand on her two feet.

This is the first book of the series. I am looking forward to get acquainted with the next ones.
