Historia
Not only can we not currently explain the origin of the universe, it is questionable we will ever be able to explain it. The notion that there are universes within particles, or that particles are conscious, is ascientific, as is the hypothesis that our universe is a computer simulation. On the other hand, the idea that the universe itself is conscious is difficult to rule out entirely.

Bland descriptive physics with little existentialism
Revisado: 06-07-24
This isn’t a philosophical text about the existential implications of theories in physics. It’s a set of loosely coupled chapters describing aspects of different parts of scientific theories and some bland and superficial comments about how this is vaguely relevant for life
I listened in 1.5x speed and the book was a disappointment

Bullshit rant book
Revisado: 07-18-23
Boring book about a one-page opinion article that should’ve been left at that. The author spends hours rambling about bland definitions that have no real basis, at some point admitting “this is based on pop culture references” instead of ethnographic work. The author makes many false assumptions and moral imputations toward entire social classes, while at the same time apparently being completely ignorant about systemic relationships and incentives
There is a case to be made about mindless jobs in modern society, this book is NOT it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME or MONEY!!

Revolutionary, ontology-shattering book
Revisado: 07-18-23
Amazing book. As someone who grew up reading and idolizing the capitalist, dualistic philosophers of the West, this book is a worldview-shattering journey across ecology, sociology, economics, and decolonization movements! Well worth the listen!!!!!

Historia
Most people regard tax havens as being relevant only to celebrities, crooks and spivs, and mistakenly believe that the main offshore problems are money laundering and terrorist financing. These are only small parts of the whole picture. The offshore system has been (discreetly) responsible for the greatest ever shift of wealth from poor to rich. It also undermines our democracies by offering the wealthiest members of society escape routes from normal democratic controls.

Revisado: 04-18-22
This audiobook is a total success. It is an in depth journey across the many use cases of information theory, as well as a philosophical discussion about it. It manages to inspire the listener to want to know more, and the PDF that comes with it is a good source of review material. Loved it!!

Historia
In 2014, the world witnessed the start of a mysterious series of cyberattacks. Targeting American utility companies, NATO, and electric grids in Eastern Europe, the strikes grew ever more brazen. They culminated in the summer of 2017, when the malware known as NotPetya was unleashed, penetrating, disrupting, and paralyzing some of the world's largest businesses—from drug manufacturers to software developers to shipping companies. At the attack's epicenter in Ukraine, ATMs froze. The railway and postal systems shut down. Hospitals went dark.

It is a good financial tale. It is full of mostly personal details with very little content on how RenTec actually works, which is understandable of course given the subject matter.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.
