Not bad
Revisado: 02-25-23
It's not bad, but it also is not a story that I would get excited to read again. I also read it a while back and can't really remember what happens, so it didn't stick with me or make much of a lasting impression. That being said, I did give it 3 stars on goodreads, which means there are some good things here, even if it wasn't a standout for me.

Kiss. Marry. Kill. Nineteen-year-old June Eyermann has always known exactly which of her favorite Byronic heroes goes where. She'd kiss moody and possessive Rochester from Jane Eyre and marry prideful but repentant Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, leaving obsessive and spiteful Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights to be chucked off a cliff - but no. She couldn't leave any of her heroes behind. She lives for her favorite fictional worlds.

I gave up
Revisado: 07-09-22
I gave up on this one, not because its bad or poorly written. The basic writing is okay. It's just the storytelling and character development that leave something to be desired. It gave me the blahs. There was nothing that really caught my attention, drew me in, or that I connected with. I feel like it's the same classic lit romance story I've read a thousand times, which would be fine, I love recycled storylines. However, compared to all the others available in this realm, this just isn't one that stands out at all. I don't hate it. I just also didn't get that interested enough to enjoy it or continue onward.

It's okay
Revisado: 07-09-22
It's short. It's easy to listen to and/or fail to listen to attentively. It's just a little boring and unexceptional. I don't hate it. I just also didn't really get into it. The storyline felt trite and overdone. I was hoping for a little bit of something different or unexpected or funny or spicy. It was honestly kind of bland for me, and it didn't really evoke any emotions. The characters were very unmemorable. It maybe just wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm an avid reader (400-500 books per year), which may make me a harsher critic.

“Perfect” one night stand type of thing.
Revisado: 06-04-22
It’s a short read, mostly about hooking up with a perfect man who 60 seconds after knowing the woman has mind-blowing sex with her, with no awkward moments, seems to know exactly what she needs and wants, and gives it to her, so that she comes repeatedly. If you like to read fantasy sex, then this is for you. I don’t mind it, but I didn’t find it that interesting or sexy. We didn’t get a chance to get to know the characters at all, before they were naked, not even a little bit about their personalities or anything. It was mostly just about their bodies. The dialogue is really simple and a bit stilted and often not that effective or helpful.
It’s basically a short one night stand fantasy story for a woman who likes to dream about getting naked with a famous, wealthy man, with a perfect body, and mad skills in bed. This means there’s not really an actual story here. You won’t get to know the characters. It’s mostly just a couple of sex scenes, with some awkward dialogue in the middle.
It’s not bad. It just wasn’t what I wanted. I like things spicy but prefer some interesting characters, some humor, some reality, and/or a touch or depth, even in my novellas. The narration was good. It might be worth trying a longer book by this author, to see if that’s a better fit. The short number of pages might have propelled this to be primarily about naked play time. I think it was just so “perfect” to me that it was completely boring, and I wasn’t that interested or even turned on by it. Maybe that’s just not my cup of tea. I like some strong chemistry, and I understand the power of fast chemistry. But I just didn’t feel any chemistry here at all, so it felt very mechanical while reading. I do think it was probably just the shortness of this novella that didn’t leave enough room for people to make any sort of emotional connection or investment to the story.

One fresh start. Two broken souls and a last chance to find salvation. They say that time heals all wounds, but they haven’t been handed a folded flag. Almost six years later, Chloe Triplett is ready to try and move on. New job, new town, but saying you’re ready and actually doing it are two very different things. Besides, what kind of crazy person would want to take on a single mom with a dog? They say that pain is temporary, but they haven’t buried someone they love.

It’s a good read
Revisado: 06-04-22
This was a good read. I listened to the audible version, and the narration is excellent. The writing and storytelling is also good. I confess, I was very hopeful, but I also went into this one with low expectations and then was very pleasantly surprised. I think a few things resolved a bit too easily or smoothly, but I’m not complaining. It’s nice to read something that, while heavy at times, doesn’t leave me depressed.
I enjoyed the characters. They were pretty well-developed, and I wouldn’t have complained had this book been even longer. That way things could have been fleshed out even more. I think this in large part won me over, because I’m always a sucker for a book with a kid, or a dog, especially when they feel real and age appropriate. This book had both.

Hurts So Good
Revisado: 07-12-20
Holy. Effing. Wow. I am 1,000% undeniably and irrevocably invested in and obsessed with these characters and this world. The narration is top notch, and I enjoyed all 27 hours and 50 minutes of it.
This whole book just blew my mind and tugged at my heart from start to finish. While I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book, this is a complete and absolutely satisfying story with full resolution of the plot. I can't wait to see what is next for these characters, and in this world, but I appreciate it so much that we weren't left with a dissatisfying and unnecessary cliffhanger. Instead, we got a fully wrapped up story, with some interesting hints at what may lay ahead.
This was so good that even though i just finished, I kind of just want to go back and start it all over again, immediately. Even the thought of rejoining the real world has left me with a bad taste in my mouth, and just writing this review is starting to burst the glowing bubble of joy, satisfaction, and relief that I was feeling.
And so the separation anxiety begins. Once again. Thank you, Sarah J. Maas, for making it so difficult for me to quit your worlds and walk away from them. I both hate you and love you for that.

Revisado: 05-16-20
I enjoyed this book from the first book to the sixth book. Rae grows so much from book one to book six and I can't wait to see how she keeps growing as the book moves forward. I felt like I had an idea how things would go and then something new would happen that would leave me being like, oh wow, I need more.

I would Like a New Dad, Please and Thank You
Revisado: 11-02-19
I receive this as a free Audible original and dove right in, since I find climbing interesting. This is an interesting perspective on climbing, for someone who doesn’t climb.
However, what really grabbed me with this story is that I would do about anything to have had a father that loved me in the way Finnegan loves Mollie. She is one lucky girl. You can hear it in every sentence, how much he is in awe of and respects his own daughter. He has zero problem admitting that she is strong and smart in ways that maybe he isn't. There’s just something really beautiful about that, and so I’m happy I read this one.
The only thing I really wanted from this one was more.

Unbreak My Heart
Revisado: 11-02-19
I am wallowing in despair, because if you asked me who should be the Queen of my world, Leigh Bardugo would be on the short list, no doubt. But this has been the most frustrating Saturday ever, trying to force myself through this book. If it had been written by anyone else, I would have chosen to DNF, but I kept hanging on to try to find more redeeming qualities.
Unfortunately, this was a really difficult story for me to get engaged and stay engaged with. The characters are many and all underdeveloped, in my opinion. The storyline is tedious and convoluted, made worse by the length of the book. I spent several hours trying to convince myself that I’m the problem, but I really don’t think it was just me. All I wanted was to spend the whole day relaxing and reading an awesome book, so I brought the right attitude to the moment just didn’t somehow, in a surprise twist, manage to pick the right book.
So long story short, even though this had some moments that were really interesting, and I could see glimpses of talent and world building and complex and interesting characters, overall, it was not a win for me. Had this not been written by Bardugo, I probably would have DNFed in the first ¼ of the story, saved myself most of a Saturday, and awarded this only 1 star. The 2nd star here is for the moments of amazing writing and storytelling that do exist, even though they tend to be too few and far between.
I do strongly recommend Bardugo’s other books, to anyone who is new to this author. Definitely don’t start with this one, since it seems to be pretty polarizing, and it’s hard saying which side you will fall towards.
The narration is pretty good, very easy to understand, mildly emotional.

An epistolary novella about an affair. A wife finds intimate letters from another woman to her husband, so she writes the other woman's husband to inform him, which sparks a series of letters back and for between both sets of people.
I loved the concept, though I didn't always love the execution.
