Historia
He was one of America's most exciting and secretive generals - the man Franklin Roosevelt made his top spy in World War II. A mythic figure whose legacy is still intensely debated, "Wild Bill" Donovan was director of the Office of Strategic Services (the country's first national intelligence agency) and the father of today's CIA. Donovan introduced the nation to the dark arts of covert warfare on a scale it had never seen before.

this is a great source of info and references material regarding the historic working of industrial banking and global governance behind the scenes.. its author is a staunch believer in bibliture, and I am able to separate that rhetoric from the secular info, and its not that hard to do.. he's only preachy in the 1st and last chapters. everything in between is solid info.

Pharmaceutical breakthroughs such as antibiotics and vaccines rank among some of the greatest advancements in human history. Yet, exorbitant prices for life-saving drugs, safety recalls affecting tens of millions of Americans, and soaring rates of addiction and overdose on prescription opioids have caused many to lose faith in drug companies. Now, Americans are demanding a national reckoning with a monolithic industry.

Historia
Asked to name a great physicist, most people would mention Newton or Einstein, Feynman or Hawking. But ask a physicist and there’s no doubt that James Clerk Maxwell will be near the top of the list. Maxwell, an unassuming Victorian Scotsman, explained how we perceive color. He uncovered the way gases behave. And, most significantly, he transformed the way physics was undertaken in his explanation of the interaction of electricity and magnetism, revealing the nature of light and laying the groundwork for everything from Einstein’s special relativity to modern electronics.

Another unknown hero finally recognized
Revisado: 02-19-24
Not to minimalize names like Einstein or Newton or hawking, but there are so many GREAT people in science and history that never get known in the household way that the afore mentioned do, who deserve as much or in some cases even MORE recognition than the afore mentioned. This is one of them. Everyone should already know this man's name.

HEROIC
Revisado: 02-05-24
black books and father ted were 2, if not THE 2 of my favorite sitcoms. a week ago, I was watching again probably for the 50th time a father ted episode and saw in the credits at the end "written by Graham Linehan" and some other fella.. I didn't know thing one about either of these guys, not even their names. didn't care. but for some reason, I FINALLY thought "I wonder if these guys ever did anything else".
1st surprise: Linehan also wrote for black books. was surprised because that was my 2nd favorite to father ted , but unsurprised because one that fact was known to me i immediately recognized the style sense of humor.
surprise 2: There WAS more. discovered, watched all of, and loved The I.T. crowd.
Surprise 3: discovered how badly a bunch of trans-terroists destroyed his life. Eventually this social delusion is going to taper off into the background and this guy will stand vindicated in his activision, and I hope sooner rather than later. I loath the whole cancel culture cancer. This is a great read.

Historia
Every physicist agrees quantum mechanics is among humanity's finest scientific achievements. But ask what it means, and the result will be a brawl. For a century, most physicists have followed Niels Bohr's Copenhagen interpretation and dismissed questions about the reality underlying quantum physics as meaningless. A mishmash of solipsism and poor reasoning, Copenhagen endured, as Bohr's students vigorously protected his legacy, and the physics community favored practical experiments over philosophical arguments.

EXCELLENT
Revisado: 11-02-22
This book is a great example of quantum duality: it explains everything about quantum physics yet never collapses into a final conclusion. (other than to say the fact of the matter: jury is still out)
Really is a great book though, walking you through the history of quantum physics and does a wonderful job at explaining many of the different interpretations. EXCELLENT read. one of the very very few I gave a full 5 stars to, and WILL be rereading it.

This is another mis-named book
Revisado: 12-15-21
I am not a Christian but I like to study religious ideas, and though I'm not a Christian, I find that in almost every respect regarding society and government, I lean thier way more than I do secular progressive types, at least where in the structure of thier beliefs are concerned. I assumed by the title that this was going to be some sort of revisionist history about the west, and it turned out to be a lecture on why God, and why not NO God when considering every aspect of human interaction. not a Christian, as I said, but though this WAS a long advertisement for God, I still thought it interesting and had points worth considering, god aside.

There’s a new invisible force at work in our economic and cultural lives. It affects every advertisement we see and every product we buy, from our morning coffee to a new pair of shoes. “Stakeholder capitalism” makes rosy promises of a better, more diverse, environmentally friendly world, but in reality, this ideology, championed by America’s business and political leaders, robs us of our money, our voice, and our identity.

Extremely well thought out, well written, and with great narration to boot. This was an easy read and you'll walk away with a lot to think about.
