Historia
A home invasion results in property damage. Children disappear and a disgruntled ex-employee is suspected. A young woman accuses her father's wife of attempted murder. Dramatic news from CNN? No, they are cases investigated by Mr. Sherlock Holmes and his intrepid companion and biographer, Dr. John H. Watson. Drawn into the dark underbelly of folk tale reality, Holmes and Watson travel the streets of London and into the far English countryside to discover the truth about some of the most famous accounts found in childhood literature.

No folklore, just fairy tales.
Revisado: 07-18-18
If you have some under the age of 10 and want to introduce them to Sherlock Holmes, you can use this book. If you like Sherlock Holmes and his methods, this work is pitiful. The first story is just Goldilocks and the three Bears, and the second one is a tired retread of Rumplestiltskin. Don't think I'll listen to the rest of it.

Why the blood?
Revisado: 12-08-13
What disappointed you about The Templar Salvation?
This book, and the followup, Devil's Elixer, both have fine basic ideas. The flashbacks in this book are good, but the modern section seems to be devoted to sadistic violence and bloodshed. It is the same in the Devil's Elixer. If you don't mind graphic and senseless violence, you will like this book better than I.
Would you be willing to try another book from Raymond Khoury? Why or why not?
No. The first one in the series was acceptable, but the second and third entries in the series are not. There is too much graphic and unnecessary violence.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Templar Salvation?
I would limit the descriptions of violence and bloodshed. The author seems to take a sadistic pleasure in detailing this.

Historia
Most of us grow up having always known to touch wood or cross our fingers, and what happens when a princess kisses a frog or a boy pulls a sword from a stone, yet sadly, some of these things are now beginning to be forgotten. Legends, myths, and fairy tales: our world is made up of the stories we told ourselves about where we came from and how we got there. It is the same on Discworld, except that beings which on Earth are creatures of the imagination - like vampires, trolls, witches, and possibly, gods - are real, alive and in some cases kicking on the Disc.

So sad.
Revisado: 01-31-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I always look forward to a new Pratchett book. This one is much less than a good effort. It is a random collecton of parts of old Pratchett books stitiched together with stories from earth. To say that it has any narrative value at all would be an exaggeration. Of DODGER, this was a terrible disappointment. Would recommend it none.
What could Terry Pratchett and Jacqueline Simpson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
They could have put the book into a narrative stream and at least made stories out of the folklore and myths of the Discworld.
What does Michael Fenton Stevens bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nice narration, I would listen to other books he reads.
What character would you cut from The Folklore of Discworld?
All of the except Death.
Any additional comments?
Hope that this book does not indicate a trend in Terry Pratchett's work.

Wicked waste of time
Revisado: 12-04-09
From the way this book was written, someone has to pay to have it printed. The writting reminds me of the miserable ramblings of a tween with a
jejune iminagination. The reader is even worse.
I suspect that there are worse books in the library, but you would have to look hard to find it.
