Historia
The first rule of being a ghost whisperer: Don't tell anyone. Seriously. Don't. Sure, it might sound harmless. A fun party trick, even. I assure you, it's not. How do I know? Well, let's just say that I've had a lot of experience with this sort of thing, and nine times out of 10, it turns into an all-consuming disaster.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Dray's historical fiction series comes to a stunning conclusion as the daughter of Cleopatra risks everything to revive her dynasty. After years of abuse as the emperor's captive in Rome, Cleopatra Selene is now a powerful queen, ruling over the exotic kingdom of Mauretania with her husband, King Juba II, by her side. But when a jealous Augustus Caesar demands that her children be given over to him to be fostered in Rome, Selene is drawn back into the web of imperial plots and intrigues that she vowed to leave behind....

Satisfying Conclusion to a Beautiful Story
Revisado: 10-05-23
So very satisfied with how this ended. The heartbreak was deep in one as it was in the others. Well done and deeply researched. I would love to have Julia’s tale someday. Mx. Garcia did an amazing job bringing each character to life. I will be listening to anything else she narrates.

The author does a beautiful job of leading us through the growth of this prince until she becomes a queen in her own mind beyond what her family ties demand

Don't let the title fool you. This isn't a book about high fiving everyone else in your life. You're already doing that. Cheering for your favorite teams. Celebrating your friends. Supporting the people you love as they go after what they want in life. Imagine if you gave that same love and encouragement to yourself. Or even better, you made it a daily habit. You'd be unstoppable. In this book, Mel teaches you how to start high fiving the most important person in your life, the one who is staring back at you in the mirror: YOURSELF.

Great narrator. Pacing is perfect. Each character feels well thought out. She is an auto listen for me.
Story is quick. No talking animals, not a witch just a girl who can see ghosts. Sweet hometown love story. Worth the time.

Quick Retelling with LGBTQIA+ Rep
Revisado: 08-08-23
Quick new adult read with an LBGTQIA+ twist. Trigger warnings for hospitals. Trigger warnings for terminal illness, well not as deep as other works. It is still a great lesson.
The narrator did great job of making the characters sound young without making them sound like children. All of the main characters are adults, which is fantastic.
I listen to this right after listening to 10,000 doors of January. If you were expecting that kind of depth, this is not that it is however a different take on sleeping beauty. I find it a refreshing take. No spice. No gore. Check your medical triggers.

Historia
In a sprawling mansion filled with peculiar treasures, January Scaller is a curiosity herself. As the ward of the wealthy Mr. Locke, she feels little different from the artifacts that decorate the halls: carefully maintained, largely ignored, and utterly out of place. Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure, and danger. Each page turn reveals impossible truths about the world, and January discovers a story increasingly entwined with her own.

A beautifully Ritch story worth a listen
Revisado: 08-08-23
I know there’s some controversy around the story. That internalized racism but as I’m not a part of that community, I can’t speak on that I can say I love this book the death of the character January was real and strong. It cost me to really think about some things that I hadn’t done before, I realize I have more work to do.
The narrator January is literally perfect for this book. I never felt the need to speed up or slow down. The pacing was just perfect. Her character work is very good. You can believe this is what they sound like.
The author has created a story that is like walking through Funhouse of doors. Every time you think you have the story figured out it changes. I appreciate that. In a world full of formulaic novels. This is not at all what I was expecting. I cannot wait for the next book by this author , they have now made it to my auto buy list
