slow in parts but a worthwhile read.

A story worth telling. I do have to say I'm not crazy about this narrator. He infuses every line with this excessively grave tone that is incredibly distracting. it's an engaging story. let it speak for itself.

probably not for a bedtime read

a solid enough story and characters. I was never a big fan, however, of narrators shouting. emotional content can be infused without relying on this. perhaps just this listener but it gets a little distracting.

Historia
In recent years, intermittent fasting - restricting calorie intake for a set number of hours or days - has become an increasingly popular diet strategy. While some in the medical community initially dismissed the idea as a dangerous fad, recent research not only validates the safety of fasting for weight loss but also offers compelling evidence of wide-ranging health benefits, from reversal of diabetes and other metabolic disorders to enhanced cognitive function and increased longevity.

missed opportunity
Revisado: 05-31-20
I've been intermittent fasting successfully for a number of years. This is how I know it is simply one among multiple approaches that may work. While guilt and shame are unproductive, so is the complete abdication of personal responsibility (way too much effort was applied here). I was just hoping for a little more science and a little less cheerleading. If it works, it should sell itself.

What I was able to hear was fine
Revisado: 03-04-20
Baskous' narrations are problematic. He alternates between mumbling and yelling. I eventually had to put it down. Really needs to learn to keep a steady volume whether it is a mic location issue or simply a running out of breath issue.

Historia
Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

It's odd to talk about Sc-Fi in terms of plausibility but there were a couple moments toward the end that came close to being deal-breakers. Nonetheless, it does keep you engaged and has some very real characters and exceptional dialogue. Other fans of this narrator will likely be happy

Historia
In 1988 Joe Navarro, one of the youngest agents ever hired by the FBI, was dividing his time between SWAT assignments, flying air reconnaissance, and working counterintelligence. But his real expertise was "reading" body language. He possessed an uncanny ability to glean the thoughts of those he interrogated.

The dead talk - to the right listener. They can tell us all about themselves: where they came from, how they lived, how they died, and, of course, who killed them. Forensic scientists can unlock the mysteries of the past and help serve justice using the messages left by a corpse, a crime scene, or the faintest of human traces.

Engaging overview of all of the foundational areas of forensics. Current but with a nice historical perspective.
Any additional comments?
Narrator should work on her American accent if shes going to use it. Comes off a tad whiny.

Historia
If the biblical plagues of Egypt truly happened—could they happen again—on a global scale? Two years after vanishing into the Sudanese desert, Professor Harold McCabe comes stumbling out of the sands, but he dies before he can tell his story. Then an autopsy uncovers a bizarre corruption: someone had begun to mummify the professor's body—while he was still alive. Subsequently, the medical team who had performed the man's autopsy has fallen ill with an unknown disease. Fearing the worst, a colleague of the professor reaches out to Painter Crowe, the director of Sigma Force. The call is urgent, for Professor McCabe had vanished into the desert while searching for proof of the ten plagues of Moses.

Where does The Seventh Plague rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
A tught plot and great cast of characters. I love this series.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Baskous is a solid narrator on the whole but has a really annoying way of losing volume in the midst of sentences. Could be a Mic or breathing issue. Makes listening difficult.

Historia
When Thomas Jefferson became president in 1801, America faced a crisis. The new nation was deeply in debt and needed its economy to grow quickly, but its merchant ships were under attack. Pirates from North Africa's Barbary coast routinely captured American sailors and held them as slaves, demanding ransom and tribute payments far beyond what the new country could afford.

A story in search of a writer...
Revisado: 01-15-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
An important, compelling and little-known piece of history. For that reason alone, it may be worth your time Though I like Kilmeade personally, I found his writing and narrating choppy and disjointed at times. Could have also been a poor synthesis with his co-author.
