Inheriting your uncle's supervillain business is more complicated than you might think. Particularly when you discover who's running the place. Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie. But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits.

Revisado: 10-11-23
I always love Scalzi and Wheaton, I thought twice because I’m not a cat person- but because of the duo I pulled the trigger and spent the credit and man I’m glad I didn’t what a great book! I could not put “down”! Kept laughing and listening! A must “read”.

Americans precede anything negative with three nice comments; French, Dutch, Israelis, and Germans get straight to the point; Latin Americans and Asians are steeped in hierarchy; Scandinavians think the best boss is just one of the crowd. It's no surprise that when they try and talk to each other, chaos breaks out. In The Culture Map, INSEAD professor Erin Meyer is your guide through this subtle, sometimes treacherous terrain in which people from starkly different backgrounds are expected to work harmoniously together.

This information should be incorporated into all diversity training. If it was, we would avoid so much misunderstanding and people attending training. It is exciting, interesting, and educating! Some of my most frustrating business and social cultural questions explained. Thank you Erin Meyers for your obvious years of education and ability to teach it to the masses.

Nope nope and nope!
Revisado: 10-21-21
I am not a writer, so I feel like being a critic is rough- normally I write good reviews often and rely on them when purchasing myself -and in the past the only time I’ve really written a bad review is because the narration has been bad or distracting. That being said… I am not sure how this book received such high ratings? It made no sense! The characters, their emotions, actions, words, did not not line up real life for me. The lead orthopedic surgeon from the get get-go having time to spend at the bedside of the little girl? His nurse wife not interested in meeting the little child? The nurse wife both embarrassed about bathroom issues with her husband as well as not being sure what happened when her water broke thinking that she had just Peed? (These are just a few examples) It really felt like juvenile narration that wasn’t throughout. I am usually the type of person who completes a book even if I don’t like it because I like to think ultimately it will get better at some point. But I was so frustrated with the story line and how ridiculous the characters were, that I could not keep continue.

This one kept me engaged the entire time! I thought that the plot, though twisted, was really interesting; not your Run-of-the-mill psychological thriller. I’m looking for another book by this author and the narrator never lets me down!

I was excepting to maybe just like it.... it MOVED ME!
Revisado: 01-26-21
I am not a big Biography reader. I don’t even remember what moved me to pull the trigger and spend the credit... in the end I am super glad I did! It was so moving and really made me look at things in a different way! I can’t even begin to list all of the lessons I learned. What I can say is I am almost embarrassed at how, as a woman, I never realized the effects of our lack of voice have a substantial ripple effect. Thank you for opening my eyes wider. I have raised strong daughters, and I am going to make my sons read this to understand the importance as well because somehow Melinda Gates has just made it crystal clear to understand.

One of my favorite authors and a great narrator to boot! I can’t imagine anyone else doing Sara, Faith or Amanda but Kathleen! I also enjoy the Karin Slaughter story telling and the plot as it weaves. I was surprised at the end, and after her 19 years of writing still being able to surprise the reader... that’s a talent!

Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.
