Tough call. I literally didn’t put this book down from beginning to end. Exciting /gripping in that sense. Bad news is the characters make A LOT of ‘don’t look in the basement’ bad ideas. Dumbest group of people I ever met. Everyone around you is getting slautered, why not go to school? It’s just another day. That’s usually enough for me to close up a book and walk away but this was so exciting I put reality aside and enjoyed the ride

The reader really messed this up for me. When she was reading the adult voices it was so monotone I couldn’t stay connected to the tape. The kids voices were so annoying I had trouble listening to them.

Everyth in g about this audiobook was annoying to me. The readers voice … the constant speculation on the part of the main character (should I do this? That? Do I like him?…) the main character made a lot of really bad decisions. Nothing subtle about the myriad possibilities of who dunnit.

I’ve read a lot of accounts of what happened but most focused on the sex slaves and branding. This book filled in a lot of the blanks - including some insight into how it happened. Definitely worth reading

Fun ride - but also some negatives

Lots of action, lots of twists and turns. couldn’t put it down. That said, the jumping back and forth in time was really confusing.
Most of the characters were women and they all sounded the same.
I never listen to romance novels els because of all the internal dialogue: does he love me? Maybe he loves me. I think he loves me, does this mean he loves me…? If drives me bonkers. This book was written like a romance novel. Is he dead? I think he’s dead. Maybe he isn’t dead. What if he isn’t dead…. Argh. That aspect of this novel drove me nuts.
