This had the feel of an opening episode of a new "Law & Order" spinoff for Ireland. It was 90% character development and 10% plot. By the end you like the characters and want to read more about their next adventure, despite this "epsiode's" plot being lackluster.
The voice actress was excellent and for this reason I will listen to more from the author

As advertised, it was an excellent space Opera. Much like his other works the characters are relatable and often gritty. They are made more realistic because of their flaws and mistakes.

interesting take on the Zombie apocalypse

1. Story is a semi-funny, semi-dramatic, zombie apocalypse buddy adventure.
2. Phil Thron is a great narrator. I wouldn't have enjoyed the books nearly as much if I had simply read them.
3. books are short individually, but a great buy for 9 books for 1 credit.

the depressing, if necessary 2nd act

For the heroes to return triumphant in Act 3 of a play they must suffer defeat in Act 2. That's what this book is. It is Act 2. I am a big M.K. Gibson fan. That said, this book was not at all satisfying.

Better than "Teresa". I can't tell if it was a short book, or if I just enjoyed it so much that it went by quickly. Much more Boxy being Boxy than in the last novel. A thoroughly enjoyable book. This series is a good counterpoint to the slew of Fantasy novels that take themselves too seriously. 👍
