Entertaining all around
Revisado: 09-13-24
I like this story. I’m a Chaney/X fan. Chaney does a lot more than just write for money. He educates, edits and promotes his cowriters. I really like Hank and Laura and company. It’s a formulaic adventuring party with a save the universe plot but there is a lot of character development in the process. I love stories that are fun and this fits the bill.
Thorne has been a delightful find in consuming this series. A narrator makes or breaks the audio experience and I don’t have a lot of time to read for fun. I have a list of narrators and authors that I buy just because their name is on a work if I like the genre. It’s a pleasure to add Thorne to that list.
I highly recommend this series in particular but any Chaney work. They are all good, fun, stories and when you buy Chaney works you are helping his cowriters to keep telling their stories.

Noth, humanity's greatest threat, has awoken and he's out for blood. So is Cole and his merry crew of misfits. They have the means to get it, too. Sort of. Their weapon might not be fully functional, but it just needs a power boost. How hard can it be? Pretty freaking hard, as it turns out. Especially when their enemies will do anything to stop them. When someone close to the crew is murdered and Cole is framed for the deed, things only get more complicated. Under the circumstances, that problem should be put on the backburner, but nothing is ever as it seems.

Amazing!
Revisado: 03-30-24
I have loved this series from the beginning. It started with the action turned up to 10 and has kept me engaged from the first word. I am a Chaney fan and buy everything with his name, but this is one of my favorite co-writes. I have high hopes to see more from Lerma as a solo writer. Thorne was a gem found in this series. I am a snob about narrators. A good narrator can make a mediocre book shine, and a bad narrator can make excellent work lackluster. Thorne has made good work even better, and I look forward to hearing more from him.
There is nothing about Slip Runner as a series that reinvents the wheel. It is just a good story that is fun and engaging. I highly recommend this series.

Historia
James Crowley has ridden the road to Crescent City before, but never with companions like these. Never with a woman whose very presence jeopardizes everything he’s fought for over the past two decades. The swamps are a brutal, nasty place filled with creatures most people think only exist in nightmares and fever dreams. When Crowley, along with Rosa, Bram Stoker, Harker, and Irish stumble upon such a creature, and one of their party finds themselves mortally wounded, they must find help in the most unlikely of places.

So awesome!
Revisado: 05-31-23
This is the same amazing quality that I have come to expect from these two authors. I love the world in which this is set and the characters are easy to care about. No one could be James Crowley except Roger Clark. A good narrator can do all kinds of things for a story. Clark does not have to carry this series. He adds to it though, making what would be an otherwise great story into something amazing. I love how I recognize some legends. That adds a nice touch of familiarity. I highly recommend this series and this book is the best so far.

The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

Revisado: 12-19-22
I loved this whole series, from book 1 to this, the final book. Bray does the whole series with the excellence that is Bray. no one else could be Skippy.
The story is great and this book is a microcosm of the entire series. There are whacky puzzles and goofy ideas from filthy monkeys. This is a fitting send-off for a series we have all loved and will miss.

Historia
Books and Bug are polar opposites, despite their friendship. Rumors on the road speak of a hospital in Washing D.C. Leading a small group of survivors, including pregnant women, the two travel in earnest to provide the soon-to-be mothers a safe place to deliver. Bug–a natural, charismatic leader–refuses to leave anyone behind while Books–a pragmatic social outsider–wishes not to be responsible for the safety of others. Together, they're exactly what this group needs to survive. But DC isn't exactly the safe haven they hoped for.

Revisado: 10-12-22
This is a triumvirate of favorites. Ford and Gayou make an amazing team as writers. Bray does this story right, with his usual excellence.
This story is more of a spiritual successor to the original, though I believe their are Super Duper Funtime plans for someone we all know and love. I have loved everything Gayou has done and this work has been no exception. I highly recommend this work for anyone who has read Commune 1-4. For those who have not read Commine 1-4,

Revisado: 08-30-22
I really like everything written by Chaney. this is the first work I have listened to by this particular team of authors, but it was no less fantastic than what I usually expect. Taylorson is in my top five narrators. I encountered him first in the Reaper series and he is a narrator whose work I will buy just because his name is on it. I highly recommend.

I love everything written by these authors and I love everything narrated by the narrator. These books are somewhat formulaic, but I find them engaging and fun. There is plenty of action, intrigue, and comic relief. I plan to continue buying these audiobooks as long as the authors and narrator keep producing them.

Demons. Monsters. Witches. James Crowley’s sacred duty as a Black Badge is to hunt them down and send them packing, banish them from the mortal realm for good. He didn’t choose this life. No. He didn’t choose life at all. Shot dead in a gunfight many years ago, now he’s stuck in purgatory, serving the whims of the White Throne to avoid falling to Hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his penance and fade away.

Castle and Bruno work well together. There is a perfect mix of world building, action and storytelling in this book. The pilot was great and this continues that same line of quality. Clark is a great narrator in the same light as Bray or Boyett but he really shines here.

Amazing
Revisado: 05-04-22
I loved this whole series. It’s a great story and the mechanics work a lot like the White Wolf games that were popular in the 90s. Being a Masquerade player, I instantly grasped the world building.
Bray does what he always does here. Anything he touches is better for him having done it. This is another case where he took a great story and made it amazing.
The story in all three books was just great. Fuller writes in a way that had my emotions zigzagging all over the place. I got the characters. I laughed out loud at times and swallowed some lumps in my throat at others. I highly recommend the entire trilogy.
