Historia
On a cold February night in 2007, a devoted father of four and a seventeen-year-old drunk driver both received life sentences. In one violent, devastating instant, both faced a drastically different - and uncertain - future. But as Chris Williams sat in his demolished vehicle, staring at the car that had just caused the death of his wife, his unborn baby, his nine-year-old daughter, and his eleven-year-old son, he committed to do something extraordinary: he would forgive.

After Family Tragedy, Zealot Wants To Proselytize/Convert/"Testify"

Living in Utah, I've had enough of listening to cultists on their soapboxes talking about themselves. Had I known the theological orientation of the author in advance, I would have skipped his self adulation before accidentally purchasing this read.

Historia
When Norm Macdonald, one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time, was approached to write a celebrity memoir, he flatly refused, calling the genre “one step below instruction manuals.” Norm then promptly took a two-year hiatus from stand-up comedy to live on a farm in northern Canada. When he emerged he had under his arm a manuscript, a genre-smashing book about comedy, tragedy, love, loss, war, and redemption. When asked if this was the celebrity memoir, Norm replied, “Call it anything you damn like.”

Sacred Knowledge is the first well-documented, sophisticated account of the effect of psychedelics on biological processes, human consciousness, and revelatory religious experiences. Based on nearly three decades of legal research with volunteers, William A. Richards argues that, if used responsibly and legally, psychedelics have the potential to assuage suffering and constructively affect the quality of human life.

Everything Is Energy In Motion
Revisado: 04-24-24
Having used ayahuasca, bufo, and psylocibin sacramentally for years to address treatments resistant PTSD and having had the revelations that usually come in concert with such usage, the science and sentiment intheis book resonated deeply with me. We are all connected and "God" is within us all...as well as external to us "in the ether" so to speak. Once humanity on a mass scale realizes that we are all divine and eternal, perhaps we will finally be able to truly get along and put an end to violence, war, and the purposeful infliction of pain on ANY living creature. Peace.

Carlos Santana’s Light, Spirit, and Soul is a rhythmic journey into the places, spaces, artists, and music that have inspired and informed one of popular music’s most successful artists by any measurable standard. He’s not an entertainer. He’s a communicator of a language that speaks directly to the molecules of listeners across space and time. These are his Words + Music.

Not an audiobook at all. Just an interview.
Revisado: 06-18-21
why this was released in an audio book format is beyond me. Someone is obviously interviewing him who is merely edited out. This could have easily been placed on YouTube or any other video or even audio platform. To be marketed as an audiobook is utter deception. if you want a good audiobook by in August of the same time frame, give James Taylor's, Breakshot, a listen.

Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

Historia
The critically acclaimed novelist and social critic Aldous Huxley, describes his personal experimentation with the drug mescaline and explores the nature of visionary experience. The title of this classic comes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell: "If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things through narrow chinks of his cavern."

A highbrowed treatment of a non-highbrowed subject. Even the narrator has a highfalutin, laconic tone. I had to speed up the voice narration to 145%.

Not For Me
Revisado: 03-31-20
I'm sure it took a lot quite a lot of courage for the author to publish this book, but I found the poetry itself hard to sit through. I think that it was rudimentarily composed. I wish I were a better person where I could ignore it I just focus on the sentiment of her emotional struggle, but I could not. I hope other still give the book a chance. I also found the performance of the narrator a little lackluster and the accent a bit difficult to tolerate.
