Anyone who is at all aware of capsule wardrobes will not learn anything new from this. Especially when it was talking about the different body shapes (pear, apple, hourglass, etc.), I was reminded of a cosmo or glamour magazine quiz.

As a francophile, I enjoyed this book with a few caveats. One was the robotic voice of the narrator. I often felt like I was listening to the telephone operator lady: “The number you have reached is not in service.” Same exact voice and monotonous tone. The other caveat is just a matter of preference, but I’m not interested in theater or art and she spends a lot of time talking about it.

After coming off the high of listening to Bringing up Bebe (superb!) and French Women Don't Get Fat (also very good) I feel this is disappointing, at best.

The narrator sounds like a high school girl in a poorly produced play. But theatrical narration aside, the substance is just not substantial enough for a book. This whole book could have been summed up in an article. This author also manages to caricaturize both American and French women. Most American women like being feminine and dressing up for work, I don't know where she gets her information from.
