Historia
In 1972, Jeff Rice's novel The Night Stalker introduced Carl Kolchak to the world. This spine-tingling novel of supernatural terror became an instant best seller and served as the basis for the film of the same name. After The Night Stalker became one of the highest rated television movies of all time, a sequel, The Night Strangler, was released the following year to great acclaim. Now, after more than three decades out of print, The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler are together in one volume.

I really liked the Jeff Rice novels
Revisado: 01-07-25
I recommend this collection. I really enjoyed the Jeff Rice novels and the reader's performance.
The other two stories are about like typical parts three and four of movies. Each one is markedly worse than the one before.

Historia
When this work was first published in 1970, it shredded the then-trendy nuts-and-bolts extraterrestrial hypothesis for UFOs in favor of one that linked UFOs to a variety of paranormal and supernatural phenomena that have taken place throughout history. Keel was one of the first to note that the UFO phenomenon appears in different disguises - and that one could not begin to decipher this great mystery without first taking into account its many and varied deliberate deceptions.

Impressive
Revisado: 01-03-25
I can see why this is a classic in its field. It presents Ufology up yo 1970. It argues that UFOs are real but he argues against the extraterrestrial hypothesis. It is a thoughtful, and I think, still relevant book. I'm not so sure about the reader's performance. It was professional, but I'm not certain his mocking tone fits the author's intentions. This is my first and probably my last Keel book. So, I'm not one to judge if Keel was mocking his material or not. With that written, I want to clarify that the performance doesn't turn me off from the book. I plan to listen to it again in the future, maybe even multiple times. My interest is the content of the book, and as I wrote above, the reader's performance is clear and professional even if I don't think it is wonderful. I can still enjoy the content of this recording of the book without the reader's performance mattering much one way or the other.

In perhaps his most important literary feat, Norman Mailer fashions an unprecedented portrait of one of the great villains - and enigmas - in United States history. Here is Lee Harvey Oswald - his family background, troubled marriage, controversial journey to Russia, and return to an "America [waiting] for him like an angry relative whose eyes glare in the heat."

Um, that was worth listening to
Revisado: 12-31-24
I'm glad this was on sale. It surprises me that Norman Mailer would be the author of the most reasoned and convincing book about the JFK assassination that I've read or listed to up to the present. I'm glad I got it. This book would go well with abreading of the novel 11-22-1963 by Stephen King. i recommend both books.

According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan.

Historia
Once upon a time, philosophy was a dangerous business-and for no one more so than for Baruch Spinoza, the seventeenth-century philosopher vilified by theologians and political authorities everywhere as "the atheist Jew." As his inflammatory manuscripts circulated underground, Spinoza lived a humble existence in The Hague, grinding optical lenses to make ends meet. Meanwhile, in the glittering salons of Paris, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was climbing the ladder of courtly success.

Revisado: 12-16-24
This book is well crafted. It is a true crime book. It is no surprise that it is a brutal story I never heard of Randy Kraft until the last two or three weeks while I was looking for something else on Audible. This book has satisfied my curiosity.

Revisado: 12-12-24
This is an outstanding apprentice piece. I have read the book in print a couple of times over the years. This is my first time to listen to it. I can hear a lot of what Harris is going to become as a future writer in this book. The reader's performance adds to the pleasure of the story.
