Can’t get enough of this author’s works!

This book is so much fun, and it has such a great storyline. I love the characters and the way that Brendan McDonald brings them to life. I’m already looking forward to the next one! Wonder if they’ll ever be a book that features both Vincent, Bancroft, and Bunny McGarry?? I think the characters would mesh amazingly, but both Brendan MacDonald and Morgan C. Jones would have to do a joint narration.

I love Fiona Shaw as an actress, but…

It is always difficult when a series switches narrator. I had great hopes for Fiona Shaw, though, as I think she’s a marvelous actress. However, her reading style is so difficult to follow. I’m still mid book and I’m struggling to get through it which makes me very frustrated.

In some instances, she reads perfectly, and then the rest of the time it’s in seemingly half whispers. So I have to adjust my volume up and down and up and down and that is tiresome. Also, when she is speaking low, it’s very breathy and that’s distracting.. I miss Leslie Manville. Fiona Shaw would’ve been amazing, had she not whispered half of the book.

A great way to round out the series. Wish there were more books here, but it’s refreshing to see an author not beleaguer the readers or characters. Well done.

What a wonderful introduction to Jesus.

Or reintroduction maybe more appropriate. Brennan Manning describes a Jesus who loves us recklessly and relentlessly. This is the Christ I want to serve.

So great! Love this writer!

I cannot recall when I have been so enamored of a writer, or with the narrators chosen for the books. Whether it is The Stranger Times series or the McGarry books Mr. McDonnell writes, I cannot get enough of them. I have blown through everything this man has authored in a very short time. Can't wait for more.

This book grabs you and doesn't let go. It's funny, imaginative and mysterious. Loved every second!

Stumbled on this series by accident.

I stumbled on this series by accident and my life has been changed! I am such a Bunny McGarry fan now, and a fan of all the wonderful characters in this "Trilogy". Great mystery story line with several laugh out loud moments. Cannot go wrong. The narrator is a genius with the characters. I highly recommend looking at the author's website to get the reading order recommendation for this series.

Clever and unnerving

Reminiscent of A Handmaid’s Tale but in reverse with some science fiction thrown in, Mother of All the Gods is an exercise in what could happen when society and government become maniacal about one dogma. Here it is a religious dogma, but one could easily interchange any political dogma. This book is terrifying partly because it is not so far fetched. One could easily see this, aside from some of the Sci-fi aspects, to happen at any time. Definitely an interesting read.

Can’t tell whether this is a celebration of Cherokee heritage or men’s genitalia and sexual proclivities...

Odd review title I know, but the author seems to put just as much emphasis on both topics. Very off putting. The plot gets lost in the author’s need to include an excessive number of detailed scenes of masturbation that add nothing to the story. The frequency and detail of the scenes made me uncomfortable. I slogged through it hoping the plot would once again pick up and have a dynamic ending. It didn’t. Towards the end, the obsession with the male member ebbed, but the story line did also.

There were so many characters in the book that it became hard to keep them straight. The main heroine seemed to be a secondary figure throughout the book. She’s kept in the dark about everything and doesn’t seem to live up to her description in the beginning.

I did give three stars because the reader was great. Between the scenes of the men and their proclivities, there is some great history shared. I wish there were more stories about the Cherokee Nation and other First Nations that delve into the indigenous history. However, please give me something that doesn’t get overshadowed by crazy scenes of men using saddles or horses to take care of their sexual needs. Truly bizarre.

Great calming and effective meditation

I received this audiobook several weeks ago and have been very impressed with it. For meditation audiobooks, I like to listen to them multiple times before I write a review. The Meditation for Rapid Weight Loss is a long audiobook compared to others in the same genre. This made me very happy as some of them are so short that I don't feel like I received my money's worth. The narrator has a wonderful speaking voice for the recording. His cadence is right on. The program is 3 hours long, but you can break it up into segments. I particularly like the instructions given at the beginning of the meditation. These instructions explain how and why meditation works. Other programs just delve right into the meditation and one is left to wonder what is going on unless the person is familiar with meditation. I am still listening to the program but am very pleased with the progress I have made so far. While my weight loss goal has yet to be attained, this has been a very helpful tool in my journey. This book was given to me free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
