The worst book I have heard
Revisado: 09-12-19
If you are into whining, selfish women: this book is for you. If you think being female allows you to excuse your bad behavior: this book is for you. If you love books about self absorbed ridiculous women: this book is for you. It tried to be funny and whimsical but it is absolute trash. Not one character was remotely likable. Most of the book was set on a cruise ship. Every new chapter made me wish for an iceberg.

Historia
At last, the full story behind Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman's epic romance, including stories, portraits, and the occasional puzzle. How did they do it? They came from completely different families, endured a significant age difference, and were separated by the gulf of several social strata. Megan loved books and art history; Nick loved hammers. But much more than these seemingly unsurpassable obstacles were the values they held in common: respect, decency, the ability to mention genitalia in almost any context, and an abiding obsession with the songs of Tom Waits.

Meh
Revisado: 10-31-18
I like both of these actors but I thought this book was boring and only marginally entertaining. As one reviewer mention, none of the pictures they talk about for 2 sections are available. Descriptions of photographs are tedious and do not make for fun reading. You feel like you’re in the back of the crowd and can’t see the show. Tina Fey found a way to include photographs. Maybe she could offer some suggestions. The book is presented so you almost feel like you’re sitting with them and listening to a spontaneous conversation, which I enjoyed. They came off a a little insufferable. I know their lives are nothing like mine and expected that. In between the few funny bits, they came across as preachy and spoiled. I really wanted to like the book but it just fell flat for me. As a couple who says they enjoy audio books, I would have thought they would have had catered a little more to others who also enjoys them.

Just a little too goofy
Revisado: 08-19-18
This is a great summer/vacation read: not too deep, not too much to keep track of as far as story line. I would say it’s a male version of the Stephanie Plum/Janet Evanovich series. It’s ok but I probably won’t be seeking out other titles in this series.

Hopeful but disappointed
Revisado: 10-07-17
I was hopeful Mr Lagercrantz would be able to give the depth to the Millennium Series that we were given by Mr Larsson, but I was disappointed. The book isn't "bad" per se, it just feels like it's missing something. Lisbeth wasn't as interesting and the story line of another autistic with savant abilities has been done. Isn't that how Lisbeth can be described? If there was to be a tie between her and the boy in the book, it wasn't well developed.
I have to admit that I get frustrated when reading a series of books, like the Millennium Series, and the character's details change without explanation. Know the details if you are going to continue another author's series. And if you don't know all the details, find an editor that does. Another puzzle to me is why Erika Berger's name pronunciation has changed from Berger to what sounds like Berrier in this recording. Simon Vance has done all the other books. Just seems strange.

You'll like it!
Revisado: 04-05-12
Although some people didn't like Scott Brick, I didn't mind him as an narrator. I have listened to other books he has done and like his calm style. I think the main character in the book has been working hard, most of his adult life, to keep his life looking as average as possible. I think the restrained narration brings those feelings to the character. I liked the suspense in this book. You are surprised in many of the plot twist and most of them feel believable. It is one of those books you can see easily turning into a movie. The only thing I found annoying was the daughter character. She was way too precocious for 8. Over all, I think it was a credit well spent. Not the best book I've ever read but a good read none the less.

Historia
This touching and uproarious novel by author Paul Murray made everyone’s best fiction of 2010 lists, including The Washington Post, Financial Times, Village Voice, and others. Why Skippy dies and what happens next is the mystery that links the boys of Dublin’s Seabrook College (Ruprecht Van Doren, the overweight genius obsessed with string theory; Carl, the teenager drug dealer and borderline psychotic; Philip Kilfether, the basketball-playing midget) to their parents and teachers in ways that no one could have imagined.

Great Listen
Revisado: 07-01-11
I have listened to this book several times and each time, I find it more interesting. It makes me wish I was in a book club. You could compare and contrast the main characters' story lines and debate what pushed Skippy to his decision. You could go through most of the characters and debate why they did what they did and how their actions, or lack there of, contributed to Skippy's life as well as their own. I was a little disconcerted at times because I have 2 young boys and it made we worry at times how they would cope with some of the things that these boys dealt with and how well you really know your teenage children. I didn't think it was slow to start. I like long books because I usually only get 1 book a month so I like to make them last! I didn't think the story drug like other people mentioned. I usually shy away from multiple narrators because they sound like a bad high school plays but this one was really well done. If you like stories with well developed characters, this one might be for you.

Wonderful Narration!!
Revisado: 03-08-10
I read this book for the first time in Middle School and have read it several times since. I also love the movie. Now that I'm 40 and DO NOT like romance novels, I wasn't sure that I wanted to listen to it. Linda Stephens is remarkable! She does an amazing job narrating this book! Sometimes you do want to slap the characters upside their heads. But you have to remember the time and how young Scarlet is. The use of the "N Word" is also part of the time. A really great listen and interesting book.

READ AFTER THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO!
Revisado: 08-19-09
This is the second in what, I believe, is a 3 part series. This book give more insight to Lisbeth and her background. If you haven't read The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo, it won't be as enjoyable. I am a little suprised I like these books as much as I do but I have found all the characters compelling and the story is well written!
