Historia
Another witness had come forward, saying they were sure they had seen someone of Tom’s description near one of the old mine pit lakes. It was going on two years now since his disappearance, but of course, anything was possible. After all, while the clues had gone cold and witness memories faded, there was one thing that doesn’t die away, the scent of death. And that is where the dogs come in.

Rebekkah's perseverance through pain, quiet joy in nature
Revisado: 01-07-25
I really got into the story. I felt indignant when others were making trouble for ER-SAR as a group by complaining about its members not being well enough trained. I was so sad when the dogs were hurt or sick. I enjoyed the descriptions of nature during the walks. I was happy that there seemed to be a succession of happy guests.
It was easy to feel a part of this world while listening to the book. If you don't read the first book and this one, you will be missing out on some educational search and rescue (SAR) information and some wonderful virtual vacation time (no TV or video required).

I f÷elt like I was there with the people in the story.
Revisado: 01-07-25
The author told the story so clearly that it felt like I was participating. I became emotionally connected to the people. I was not prepared for the story to end when it did. While several loose threads were tied up, there were hints of new possibilities. The story ended just as the heroine got a new SAR puppy. I want to know the new pup's name and how she did connecting to her new big brothers... I want a nice long sequel, PLEASE!

Way TOO Much Explicit Sex
Revisado: 11-08-24
I've gotten used to some explicit sex in romance novels. It seems to be the expected thing these days and I can fast forward if it becomes uncomfortable. However, this book seemed to have a lot more sex than story. The story premise is promising and there is enough byplay in the work environment to keep things interesting. It ended well enough, but on the whole I was disappointed. I finally skipped the last third of the book to the wrapups before the epilogue and ending.

Love Derailed Finds Its Way in the End
Revisado: 10-31-24
I love the way Chocolate winds through the whole, past and present. This is a beautiful story and, even though I could guess the ending, I cried. It could not have ended any other way and been so satisfactory.

Historia
Attempting to recover a relic stolen from her family years ago, gifted crystal worker Leona Hewitt secretly makes her way into Lord Delbridge's private museum. But who she finds there is more entrancing than the crystal she seeks. Thaddeus Ware is a mesmerist with powerful psychic energy—that doesn't seem to be affecting the woman before him. Instead, Leona seems to exert a rather hypnotic power over the hypnotist himself. After she gives him the slip, absconding with the crystal they recovered, Thaddeus fears for her safety.

Leona and her Aurora Stone.
Revisado: 03-02-24
I liked the spirit shown by Leona throughout. I also liked that the miscreants for the most part got their just desserts. This story moves right along so don't plan to put it down for long.
A word of warning, however, there is some explicit sex. If you don't want to hear such then fast forward through it or don't start. It might be easier to skip past the sex in a book or ebook.

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Captivating and Delightful
Revisado: 09-24-23
Starts a little slow, but when the meeting comes out of the blue our heroine jumps into action. You remember the old saying: "Everyone has a doppelganger out there somewhere in the world."
Here is where I have to confess. When the tension got going in our story, I gave in to going to the end. Then I had to back it up a couple of chapters, after which I had to back it up some more. I think I heard the last chapter 4 or 5 times in all. The wonder of it was that even knowing the ending, I had to go back to my bookmark, where I left off, and finish listening to the book all the way through. And I thoroughly enjoyed it! This was a rarity, by the way, as many of my books don't hold me and get finished right away.
If you like a thoroughly tangled romance, try this one and enjoy.

Historia
Lt. Eve Dallas is just home from a long overdue vacation when she responds to a call of an unattended death. The victim is Martin Greenleaf, retired Internal Affairs Captain. At first glance, the scene appears to be suicide, but the closer Eve examines the body, the more suspicious she becomes. An unlocked open window, a loving wife and family, a too-perfect suicide note—Eve's gut says it's a homicide. After all, Greenleaf put a lot of dirty cops away during his forty-seven years in Internal Affairs. It could very well be payback—and she will not rest until the case is closed.

Story Is Very Good
Revisado: 09-15-23
Performance is only a 4 star because i really hate that music at the beginning and end. The music is totally unnecessary. PLEASE GET RID OF THAT HORRIBLE LOUD MUSIC!
Unlike many of Eve Dallas' cases, I was able to identify the culprits as soon as they appeared, hence the 4 star rating for the story. Either I'm getting into the mindset better after 50+ books, or this one was not as well cloaked, although the reasoning was still buried.
SPOILER ALERT:
I appreciated only one successful murder and limited blood.
I did thoroughly enjoy Eve's process and the parade of characters. I'm grateful that J. D. Robb has consistently used Susan Erickson to read her books. I have no trouble identifying the character speaking by the "voice" Susan uses for each. She is one of my favorite narrators. and I don't have many.
NOW, IF THEY EITHER GET RID OF THE MUSIC or tell me how to mute that feature, I'll bump my rating back up to 5 for performance.

Historia
The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Very Interesting Bits of History with Folklore
Revisado: 08-31-23
I liked the archeological evidence mixed with folklore. Also, the earliest written histories in relation to different cultures and more recent archeological evidence.
I also enjoyed the chapters about mythological creatures and more modern fictionalizations featuring some of these creatures.
I think my favorite part was the history of the English monarchs in comparison to George R. Martin's Game of Thrones. I had already read Anya Seton's Katherine about King
Henry IV's mother, a book about Elizabeth (sister of the lost princes), and was happy to hear how the connections were made through the War of the Rose's down to King Henry VII (Tudor line).

Disappointed
Revisado: 06-30-23
I got a bit annoyed with the main character, Alexis, for yelling and whining. When she lost her first attorney, who showed a remarkable lack of sympathy or belief, she should have immediately begun looking for someone else to represent her. There were other instances where her behavior showed a lack of forethought. I did begin to wonder about Farrah, but my initial suspicions were wrong. My greatest complaint is that there was no resolution of the dirty tricks her husband played on her. This may reflect real life, but I don't read/listen to stories or books to wind up as depressed as the newspaper or TV news. There are plenty of places for the depressing side of real life. I prefer to be entertained and this failed.

Perfectly Adorable
Revisado: 06-29-23
This is a beautiful production of a wonderful Christmas story that can be enjoyed at any time of the year. I was hopeful that I knew where the story was going and thoroughly enjoyed the process of getting there. All I'll say about the storyline is that Angel's timing was perfect for Christmas Eve and the foods described will have your mouth watering for Christmas goodies no matter what time of year you are listening to this story.
I believe I would enjoy follow-up holiday stories from this same author and readers/performers.
