Lots of fun quirky characters. Amazing narration. I've had this book in my wish list since listening to "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency". I didn't love it as much as that series, but I still loved it. He has written plenty more books to choose from, so I plan on grabbing another.

While I don't especially like watching his show, the info in this book was very well presented and very informative. I highly recommend. Great for anyone with cats or anyone planning to adopt a cat in the near future.

This book is so full of information and knowledge. He covers body language (dogs, people, cats), biology, history, techniques...everything. I will definitely be revisiting this book often as a resource guide. I hated for it to end. HIGHLY recommend to any dog parent!

This is a true story of a recovering addict/street musician that takes in a homeless cat. It is a very endearing story and I am so glad that James Bowen shared it. It is also very well written. I highly recommend this book. After you read it, you can find actual YouTube footage of Bowen and Bob (he makes a short reference near the end of the book).

This was a pretty informative book and discussed pretty in-depth the senses and other factors contributing to fearful dogs. She did offer some good pointers in treating fearful dogs and things to do to make them less fearful. But a great deal involved having a veterinarian who is willing to alter the way they treat your dog in order to make him less fearful. So...where do you find these elusive veterinarians? I literally watched my dogs vet/vet tech smack him during a nail trim. I still would recommend this book. Lots of information.

Pretty good information on fasting, but geared more towards those who are fasting for purposes of diabetes or obesity. I'm interested in fasting for disease prevention and overall wellness...so more along the lines of intermittent fasting. Still good info.

After seeing a performance of "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" at a local theater, it occurred to me that I had never read or seen other versions of the original Frankenstein story. It was interesting comparing and contrasting this very old version to other more modern versions. Since listening to this book, I've tried to watch as many different film versions that I can get my hands on. One thing that first stuck out to me is that Mary Shelley's version does not include an assistant named "Igor", but many of the film versions do. Dan Steven's narration really made this book come to life. I think if I would have read it in print, I would have become bored in many places.

Nice continuation of the first book. Also touted as a middle grade book, but I still maintain this series is an excellent adult series as well. The fact that you can read or listen to them with your kids is just an added bonus. Love this series...onto the next!

This book is listed as a middle grade book, but I loved it. Definitely one I recommend to my nephews or grand-daughter. But also one I would recommend to my adult friends as well. The book blurb sums up the premise pretty well. Non-stop adventure drawing from King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Loved this book and have already started the next in the series.

I chose this book because I recently listened to another book narrated by Christopher Carley. That particular author only wrote two books (which I LOVED), so rather than finding something else from him, I decided to search books read by this narrator. He did not disappoint. This is a book you can listen to with your kids.

This book takes a very comprehensive and detailed look at the canine mind and body. The author goes into great detail of how dog senses function. He offers great insight as to how dogs learn and how their developing minds compare to young children as well as other animals. Although the knowledge found in this book is based very heavily on science, it is presented in such a way that it is easily understood. I will probably revisit this book often as there is just so much information to be found in it.

I will add that the narration was a bit off-putting. His tone seemed appropriate for elementary age children rather than adults listening to very scientific data. Also, when quoting other people, he took on weird accents. He was a bit of a distraction.
