Cassandra Campbell is a dream when it comes to narration.
Woods’ stories are always action packed and full of sex…just so predictable.

I don’t read many reviews and don’t write many.
I’ve listened to all of the Mrs. Jeffries series and sometimes I wonder how I’ve made it through all of this series.
BUT It would be so nice if Wiggins would get a grownup voice and sound like a man instead of something speaking in a falsetto voice. Am I the only person that’s noticed this?? Hasn’t ANYONE else noticed it??
When the series began it was confusing because Mrs. Gouge, Betsy, and Wiggins all sounded alike. I finally found out who was speaking at the end of the sentence.
Finally Mrs Gouge and Betsy have different nuances, so they can be told apart most of the time.
BUT CAN’T MS DIXON AND EMILY BRIGHTWELL DO SOMETHING ABOUT MAKING WIGGINS SOUND LIKE A MAN??

Emily Brightwell’s books are getting better.with more intricate plots , and I’ve resd rhem from day one.

I enjoyed the narrator’s reading for the most part. Sometimes Mrs, Gouge., Wiggins, and Betsy sound a. Lot alike. But this second narrator drives me up the wall with Wiggins. He’s either whining or screeching. I just have to skip over to the next person speaking. He sounds like a three or four year old with his screech working into a tantrum!. Come on he should be out of puberty by now. But his voice keeps getting worse.,, please give him a voice of someone in their twenties. at least. Please. Please!!
This reader could put an end the series for me.

Jana DeLeon has created a series full of hilarious shenanigans. The three women are raring to go and never boring. One minute they have you on the edge of your seat and the next, you’re breathing a sigh of relief.
Ida Belle and Gertie keep the pace going, while Fortune is right by their side all the way. And the folks they meet along the way, like Big and Little, well, just keep reading and find out for yourself.
If you’re looking for something, light and full situations that are laugh-out-loud funny, you won’t regret delving into this series.
They’re fun and entertaining all along the way. So sit back, and fasten your seatbelt and enjoy!!

The narrator was so difficult to listen to??Very distracting??
Ending every sentence like a question??
It sounded as if everything was a question??
See how hard this is to read??
Try listening to that from beginning to end. This audio book would be alright if the reading wasn’t such a mess!! The author had some good characters who could be more completely developed as the series goes on. But the narration was so bad, I couldn’t give her performance but ONE star. And that was pushing it for me! Her reading, everything as if it were a question, was awfull!! The story and characters would have been okay to read but not to listen to with this person. No distinction between voices made it confusing!! I might give this author another chance, but NOT this reader — and that’s really all she did, read all of it as one big question!!! I’ll give a wide berth to anything this woman “reads”!!????

What a wonderfully told story!! Of a time and place not that far removed from where we are today.
Ami McKsy’s writing has such a beautiful and steady flow. She brings New York to life in the 1880s and one can see the sights and hear the sounds surrounding it. They are so heart wrenchingly real and yet, her principal characters offer true friendship and fulfillment to each other and others as they reach out to find their true paths in life.
It must have been such an exciting, and, at times, hazardous period, especially for women. And with the things happening now, there are so many parallels.
I can’t wait for the next adventures of Adelaide, Eleanor and Beatrice!!
Julia Whelan does a beautiful job narrating this book.
Thanks 🙏🏽 to Ms. McKay — you are an incredible storyteller!!

I write this last review of the final installment in the Oxford Medieval Mystery series. Ann Swinfen died unexpectedly, just after this book was published.
This book met all my expectations and more. It was bittersweet reading, first, then listening to Philip Battley’s wonderful narration of the story.
All of the excitement, intrigue, and heartwarming storytelling she put into every book I’ve read by her, was present. She must have been an incredible lecturer because every one I’ve read, always teaches me something about Oxford during the 1500s, just after the pestilence. I swear she could make instructions for changing a flat tire interesting!! And this time it was building such structures as Churches, Castles and other large buildings.
Her characters came to life for me with every book — filled with excitement and intrigue. What a wonderful writer and gifted storyteller she was!!
If you love Medieval mysteries, like Cadfael, you’ll love Ann Swinfen ‘s books. Her enthusiasm for whatever time she was writing about came through time and again.
My heartfelt sympathy to her husband, family, and friends.
And my thanks to Ann Swinfen for sharing these wonderful tales with us.

What in the world was Georgette Heyer thinking when she wrote this one?? It’s like she couldn’t be bothered to even finish it.
I’ve read all of her mysteries and romances, but this one...what was going on in her own life when she wrote it?
We needed Hemingway to resolve it. But, it took sooooo damn long for the old man to finally get bumped off, that the book should have ended chapters before the crime even happened.
I’m flummoxed, I truly am. What a deadly, cancerous old man....

This has always been one of my favorites— especially since it’s one of the Tommy and Tuppence mysteries.
I think it also gives a pretty accurate picture of what was going on in Britain during WWII—
attitudes, atmosphere and people’s reactions to being in another war so quickly after WWI. It must have been mind numbing to the Brits, finding themselves in this situation again. I’m sure there was a certain amount of denial for some.
I’ve learned enough over the years of the different political factions that cropped up during this time, to see how some reactions could have occurred.
Agatha Christie keeps the story moving along at a good pace and throws in a few surprises that tie up nicely at the end.
And, Hugh Fraser, as always, is wonderful.
