A Perfect Listening Experience
Revisado: 12-19-12
Being that the subject matter is about listening it helps that the stories within are presented in such a "listenable" way. Beautiful, touching vignettes voiced in a pleasant, patient voice. Well done!

Historia
Perhaps James Joyce's most personal work, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man depicts the intellectual awakening of one of literature's most memorable young heroes, Stephen Dedalus. Through a series of brilliant epiphanies that parallel the development of his own aesthetic consciousness, Joyce evokes Stephen's youth.

Brilliantly Performed!
Revisado: 11-12-12
I enjoy a good classic mixed in with my usual modern fiction now and then. John Lee, the narrator, doesn't disappoint in delivering this incredible work with style, perfect timing and voice characteristics.
While a classic is just that for a reason, it doesn't always make it palatable for today's consumer. This narrator delivers a stunning version that is more than palatable; it's a feast!

Historia
The homeless veterans living on the streets of Richmond may be considered "human trash" by the city, but Vietnam War veteran Buzz considers them his brothers - and the "no man left behind" rule applies. Lisbeth Hansen is an RN who runs a center attempting to rehabilitate and retrain homeless veterans, her goal being to give them back their dignity; however, her efforts are thwarted when she discovers that the men are MIA from the center. No one is concerned until Lisbeth suddenly goes missing, and when the sheriff believes that she's run away with her ex-fiancé, her father, Erik, enlists the help of lifelong friend Mike Lombardi, a retired LINY cop.

I was spellbound!
Revisado: 11-06-12
This story is fast paced and you get pulled right in! I love listening to audio books and this ones a real good one. Her voice makes me think she's reading it only to me . She's got a soothing sound but lots of energy at the right time. I learned alot about vetrans that I had no idea about.
The sound of each characters voice was great even with her doing mens parts and the vietnamese kids. I ended up pullin and all-nighter so I could hear the ending! I gotta tell my friends about this one. People need to learn about vets and the sadness of so many homeless. I wanna hear some more from this narator too. Be lookinhg forward to more audios.
Thanks for a great read... I mean a great listen!

Historia
An orphan's life is harsh---and often short---in the island city of Camorr, built on the ruins of a mysterious alien race. But born with a quick wit and a gift for thieving, Locke Lamora has dodged both death and slavery, only to fall into the hands of an eyeless priest known as Chains---a man who is neither blind nor a priest. A con artist of extraordinary talent, Chains passes his skills on to his carefully selected "family" of orphans---a group known as the Gentlemen Bastards.

Exquisite narration! Characters sagely performed
Revisado: 11-06-12
While the story takes us through some convoluted flashbacks; the characters are voiced with precision and style. The narrator's attention to detail affords the listener grounding and continuity of the storyline.
This is the first time I have ever listened to an audiobook more than once; it's that good! Take a break from the ordinary and give Michael Page's narration of The Lies of Locke Lamora a listen. You will be glad you did!
