Historia
James Hillman was a past master of alchemical psychology. This field uses metaphors derived from ancient alchemy to elucidate deep structures in the creative imagination. Creative processes are not random. By studying alchemical psychology we come to understand ourselves and other humans in surprising ways that frequently diverge sharply from the habitual understandings we have unconsciously absorbed from the cultures in which we were raised.

Every night of our lives, we experience between five and seven dreams, each reflecting our most intimate passions and conflicts. Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés compares each one to a riddle. Once solved, it can provide a surprising answer to an unresolved question buried within the psyche. Inside story of what happened in DNC in 2016
Revisado: 08-02-24
This was so eye opening. It’s the first time I’ve heard a straight and human story of what really happened in the run up to the 2016 election, from DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile. A mixture of organizational incohesion, lack of cybersecurity expertise, infighting, naivete, and ongoing Russian hacks put the DNC in a totally compromised position. This goes beyond who you agree with and into a view of how a formerly competent organization can fall apart at the seams. Also, fabulous narration and accessible, entertaining writing.

Historia
When The Dance of Deception was published, Lerner discovered that women were not eager to identify with the subject. "Well, I don't do deception" was a common response. We all "do deception", often with the intention to protect ourselves and the relationships we depend on. The Dance of Deception unravels the ways (and whys) that women show the false and hide the real - even to our own selves. We see how relationships are affected by lying and faking, by silence and pretending and by brave - but misguided - efforts to tell the truth.

Historia
Borderline personality disorder, autism, narcissism, psychosis, Asperger's: All of these syndromes have one thing in common---lack of empathy. In some cases, this absence can be dangerous, but in others it can simply mean a different way of seeing the world. In The Science of Evil, Simon Baron-Cohen, an award-winning British researcher who has investigated psychology and autism for decades, develops a new brain-based theory of human cruelty.

A look at empathy and evil
Revisado: 04-06-24
Baron-Cohen reframes evil acts as the result of a lack of empathy, and makes a case for where a lack of empathy comes from (environmental and genetic), how people exhibit it, and other really interesting neuroscientific connections. Well-read and engaging.

The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life

Historia
A notable contribution to our understanding of ourselves. This audiobook explores the realm of human behavior in social situations and the way that we appear to others. Dr. Goffman uses the metaphor of theatrical performance as a framework. Each person in everyday social intercourse presents himself and his activity to others, attempts to guide and control the impressions they form of him, and employs certain techniques in order to sustain his performance, just as an actor presents a character to an audience.

A thorough depiction of how people behave in social
settings, from work to events, in order to express and confirm status, affiliation, identity, and other facets of fitting in (or not). I found it a little long and repetitive, but in a way I liked the repetition, because it helped things sink in.
