Intriguing and entertaining weekend talk by Dr. Hillman, felt like I was right there in the audience. Also a refreshing and interesting way to think about psychology.

Wonderful narration and storytelling, and insights into not only common archetypes, but how to think about them for yourself.

This was so eye opening. It’s the first time I’ve heard a straight and human story of what really happened in the run up to the 2016 election, from DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile. A mixture of organizational incohesion, lack of cybersecurity expertise, infighting, naivete, and ongoing Russian hacks put the DNC in a totally compromised position. This goes beyond who you agree with and into a view of how a formerly competent organization can fall apart at the seams. Also, fabulous narration and accessible, entertaining writing.

I didn’t agree with some of content at the beginning of the book, but about midway through there were lots of gems. A lot of the content applies to living a good life in general.

Listening to this audiobook felt like attending a course by a skilled instructor. She simplified a complex topic without oversimplifying. Highly recommend.

Baron-Cohen reframes evil acts as the result of a lack of empathy, and makes a case for where a lack of empathy comes from (environmental and genetic), how people exhibit it, and other really interesting neuroscientific connections. Well-read and engaging.

A thorough depiction of how people behave in social
settings, from work to events, in order to express and confirm status, affiliation, identity, and other facets of fitting in (or not). I found it a little long and repetitive, but in a way I liked the repetition, because it helped things sink in.

Helped me learn so much about both one person’s experience of being trans and the challenges that society presents to people who aren’t cis/het. Generously written and narrated. Highly recommend.
