A Love Letter to Whiskey: Fifth Anniversary Edition
By Kandi Steiner
Book and Audiobook Review
Audiobook narrated by Lauren Sweet
B and Jamie? Wow! Throughout A Love Letter to Whiskey, you will find many raw emotions surrounding the main characters. What will be the outcome of their powerful connection, as told from both perspectives?
For me, this was both a challenging and enjoyable read. We all have that one person we love passionately. However, we may or may not ever have them, no matter how much we cherish them and how addicted we are to their touch. I think that's what makes this book so compelling and relatable. Despite the gut-wrenching pain of relationships, the reader cannot ignore the poignant moments and intense connection between B and Jamie.
Whether in fiction or in real life, A Love Letter to Whiskey remains an unforgettable reminder of love's power. It made me feel raw, painful, beautiful, agonized, and vulnerable. After reading Kandi Steiner's words, I realized that love and memories always touch us when we least expect them.
I listened to the audiobook while reading the book on my Kindle. I highly recommend this book/audiobook to anyone looking for an emotional journey. It's a story that will stay with you long after you've finished it. The audiobook is beautifully narrated by Lauren Sweet. The characters are well-developed and real, and the themes of family, loyalty, and friendship resonate with me.

Historia
In 2009, Edie had New York’s social world in her thrall. Mercurial and beguiling, she was the shining star of a group of recent graduates living in a Brooklyn loft and treating New York like their playground. When Edie’s body was found near a suicide note at the end of a long, drunken night, no one could believe it. Grief, shock, and resentment scattered the group and brought the era to an abrupt end.

Historia
In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian-American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.

Revisado: 04-10-22
Michelle Zauner is a well known author, singer, and songwriter. Her story is one of grief, endurance, humor, and honored family traditions. Don't miss her inspirational journey to love and self-identity. It will warm your heart. Having lost my own parents, I found the book relatable and cried while reading it. The expressions of love throughout are honest and spot on. I highly recommend this exceptional novel. (5 Huge Stars!)

A must-read for historical fiction lovers!
Revisado: 02-02-22
"The Lobotomist's Wife" is historical fiction, but take a look through history when over 3000 lobotomies were actually performed.
The results are chilling! Ruth Emeraldine has suffered the excruciating loss of her brother from suicide. The loss set her path toward helping those suffering from mental disorders. She meets charming Robert Apter. Robert has invented a new procedure called "lobotomy" (a psychosurgery used in the treatment of mental illness). Not only do Robert and Ruth share dreams of helping others, they fall in love and get married.
As years go by, Robert becomes well-known as the "renowned creator" of the miracle surgery. However, Ruth realizes that in truth, the patients Robert operated on did not get better. Overwhelmingly, many suffered horrific side effects that were worse. Ruth tries to reason with Robert about her deep concerns, but has he gone too far? Will his desire for fame outweigh his concern for his patients well-being being? Can he be stopped?

Historia
It's winter in the Catskills and Mitchell's Inn, nestled deep in the woods, is the perfect setting for a relaxing—maybe even romantic—weekend away. So when the weather takes a turn for the worse, and a blizzard cuts off the electricity—and all contact with the outside world—the guests settle in and try to make the best of it. Soon, though, one of the guests turns up dead—it looks like an accident. But when a second guest dies, they start to panic. Within the snowed-in paradise, something—or someone—is picking off the guests one by one.

Historia
Come with us to an Enchanted Place, a forest where Winnie-the-Pooh lived with Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, and Little Roo. The stories are about Christopher Robin and these good companions having wonderful times getting in and out of trouble. It is all very exciting and, really, quite thrilling no matter how young or old you may be. It is painful to try and imagine what the world would be like without them.

Looking to entertain the kids on a long car ride? Here is the perfect solution!
I recently listened to the audiobook of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne. It is absolutely delightful!.
Winnie The Pooh is a true gift passed down from grandparents to children to grandchildren. Even at 60 years "young" I still laughed during the collection of 10 stories included in this audio book.
Pooh, Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Piglet, Rabbit, Roo, and Owl's friendship and adventures are timeless! Did you know that Winnie The Pooh was first published in 1926? Yet for me, the stories never get old. Each character has its own distinct hilarious personality that seamlessly brings laughter and comfort to the listener.
