Historia
My name is El, and I live in a quiet southern town where the most exciting thing that happens is Friday night football and the Harvest Moon Festival. That is…until I learn that the three women who raised me have been lying to me all my life. I thought I was an orphan. I thought my aunts loved and respected me enough to always tell me the truth.

Trying to find Artus after her banishment?
Revisado: 12-06-22
I must admit, before listening to this book, I didn’t realize it had a few familiar characters from S.J. West’s Vampire Conclave series. By the time I started listening to Pandora’s Gift, I had already listened to all her books available here on Audible. I first stumbled across the author while browsing the Audible Plus Catalog. The first book of hers I read was Broken, book 1 in The Watchers Chronicles.
Again, because I didn’t know this was kind of a branch off from one of her series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. You can listen to this book without listening to the Vampire Conclave series, but if you love S.J. West’s books, I recommend reading those before you read Pandora’s Gift.
When I listened to the sample before purchasing and heard the narration, I was hooked. I have already listened to all of West’s books here on Audible and love her story telling and I just knew I would enjoy this one. The narrator was easy to listen to and you could get a sense of each character and their personalities through her narration. This was my first time listening to this narrator and she did a great job keeping you engaged in the story and allowing the reader to be able to differentiate between each of the characters.
Pandora encompasses all that comes with being a young woman coming into adulthood. She’s an only child adopted by three very strong and protective mothers. As her 18th birthday approaches, her world is turned upside and her future is not what she thought it would be when she finds out who her parents really are. What powers have lied dormant inside her since birth, starts to present themselves.
As I mentioned before, I recommend listening to the Vampire Conclave series before starting this one. It will help quite a bit knowing several characters that come into this book, even though the main line of this can be a stand-alone story, I can’t say the other books to be written in this series will.
If you love sci-fi fantasy, S.J. West’s books are just amazing stories. They encompass creatures from vampires to Greek gods and even to angels. Start listening and get addicted, just like I did!

At the tender age of seven, Jess Riley's parents were ripped out of her life by the Tear, a ripple of white light in the sky which randomly transports people from Earth to alternate realities and distant planets once a year. On the night the Tear first appeared, the Watchers, a mysterious group of men possessing supernatural powers, made their presence known to the leaders of the world, earning their complete trust to deal with the turmoil the Tear caused.

Pulled me right in!
Revisado: 10-27-20
Plus Catalog had just hit for us Audible Premium Plus members and I just happened to be perusing through this category to see if they offered any good Sci-fi / Fantasy books. I had nothing to lose as these "Included" titles didn't cost me any credits. I only read a few reviews, which were all great, and didn't even realize this series of 4 books were the second in this story line until after I finished the 4th book. This series stands on it's own without reading the first series The Watchers Trilogy. Just to note, I did go back and start the first series after finishing this one. Which is a must!
First off the narrator, Brittany Pressley, can read any future books for me! Love her! For me personally, I need the narrator to make me feel like I am inside the book and part of the story. She voices every character differently and stays consistent through all 4 books. Huge plus to have a fantastic voice and personality reading a fantastic story to you. I have stopped listening to a book before because I just can't endure the torture of a bad narrator.
This story opens up with intrigue and interest right away. It's definitely not slow at the start. The story is told through the main character, Jessica, who is a Watcher Agent, She works for The Watchers to help keep control of things when a tear in the sky opens annually letting humans and whatever else through from other dimensions. Not only do living things come through the tear, but they also go through it from earth. This leave families broken and lost as mothers, fathers and even children disappear without a trace.
There is so much more to this story without giving anything away! S.J. West is an amazing writer as her words flow very smoothly and are extremely descriptive so you are able to easily visualize exactly what is happening. All 4 of The Watcher Chronicles books are available in the Plus Catalog, but the others in the story line are not. These books were so amazing, I read all the others even without having any credits left. I bought them all and listened to them within a couple weeks. They are that good!
