Historia
In the classic best seller, Introduction to Tantra, Lama Yeshe offered a profound and wonderfully clear glimpse into the sophisticated practices of Tibetan Buddhist tantra. This present book, the last major teachings of this great lama, opens up the world of advanced practices for Highest Yoga Tantra initiates in much the same way his earlier work opened up the world of tantra in general. Lama's own realization of the transformative power of these practices comes through, inspiring his students to discover for themselves their own capacity for inexhaustible bliss.

fascinating but could really use some diagrams

fascinating descriptions into the philosophy and practical techniques of inner fire meditation. but difficult to follow it's visualizations without a better idea of what these symbols look like, for example, the "short A" and other symbols are supposed to be visualized in "secret chakra" locations etc. But is fascinating none the less even if it is not excelent for practice.

Called "America's wisest and most respected authority on psychedelics and their use", James Fadiman has been involved with psychedelic research since the 1960s. In this guide to the immediate and long-term effects of psychedelic use for spiritual (high dose), therapeutic (moderate dose), and problem-solving (low dose and microdose) purposes, Fadiman outlines best practices for safe, sacred entheogenic voyages learned through his more than 40 years of experience - from the benefits of having a sensitive guide during a session (and how to be one) to the importance of the setting and pre-session intention.

not very insightful for experienced exporers
Revisado: 02-29-20
it was kinda interesting. but really it offers one very conservative perspective on how one is "supposed to" have a psychedelic experience. and offers strange guidelines as an expert recomendation, such as don't have an experience unless 6 months a part, and guide must be completely free of any medicine etc. and he implies it is reckless to do it without a guide in this manner. I had to roll my eyes quite a bit at his narrow and sometimes preachy, dad-like perspective on the medicine.
but I did like hearing about some of the studies behind it, although only a few were discussed, but they were interesting. and there was some good important info in there such as studies that dispelling myths about dangerous adulterants that are never found.
I gave it a three. I don't I regret listening to the book, but can't say I recommend it either.

Historia
The visionary chemist Sidney Gottlieb was the CIA’s master magician and gentlehearted torturer - the agency’s “poisoner in chief.” As head of the MK-ULTRA mind control project, he directed brutal experiments at secret prisons on three continents. He made pills, powders, and potions that could kill or maim without a trace - including some intended for Fidel Castro and other foreign leaders. He paid prostitutes to lure clients to CIA-run bordellos, where they were secretly dosed with mind-altering drugs. His experiments spread LSD across the United States.

Absolutely Essential History
Revisado: 10-16-19
It is almost beyond belief, and it is beyond belief for most people who only learned what they teach in middle school history class. It is such a savage portrait of institutional "evil," and I don't know any better example for this word than what the CIA has done in its covert and fantastically meglomeniachal quests to conquer and puppet the human mind. The book goes through our history developing and testing biological weapons, even testing (supposedly) benign bacteria mass delivery systems as aerosol spray clouds which were launched on San Franciso. The whole culture of the CIA is at times comically "fear and loathing", where they are surprise dosing eachother regularly and coming up with hair brain ideas of how to discredit Castro with serious plans to make his beard fall out by putting thaleum salts in in his shoes, or regularly conducting "experiments" involving lots of sex with hookers and LSD. and at other times their "work" or obsession is absolutely disturbing and defined by procuring people for prolonged torture and experimentation with electroshock and every other method of pharmacological and "interrogation technique" to try to utterly break and replace their very personality and mind and sense of reality as a tool of war. The book shows how in their mad search for this knowledge of ultimate power, to replace, implant and control another's mind, they kill thousands of "easily expendable" people both overseas, (in the korean war for example), as well as at home in the black prisons of Kentucky. This book does a great and thorough job putting this story together in a way that will make you excited, fascinated and morally disgusted all at once. It makes me reflective on just how deceitfully truncated the prescribed narrative of American history is to leave out this deeply revealing chapter of the American portrait.

Historia
Following the enormous success of 2004 bestseller and critics' favorite Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Susanna Clarke delivers a delicious collection of ten stories set in the same fairy-crossed world of 19th-century England. With Clarke's characteristic historical detail and diction, these dark, enchanting tales unfold in a slightly distorted version of our own world, where people are bedeviled by mischievous interventions from the fairies.

I LOVED her last book, but am disappointed here
Revisado: 01-06-17
I loved Johnathan Strange and Mr. Narrel a ton, but this one, by the same author, was hard to finish. Perhaps it was partly due to the reader, I can't deal with the woman voice reader, very shrill and British, halfway through it transitions to a male reader that is better. but generally I struggled to get through this one or be captivated, even though I tried several times.

Revisado: 04-22-16
It was an amazing informative and deeply personal story, I could not put it away, but it is a sad and heart wrenching listen. It tells of distopian horror, and also amazing acts of kindness , and perseverance. It is not a feel good book at all but is a great and epic one still.

Historia
In 1528, a mission set out from Spain to colonize Florida. But the expedition went horribly wrong: Delayed by a hurricane, knocked off course by a colossal error of navigation, and ultimately doomed by a disastrous decision to separate the men from their ships, the mission quickly became a desperate journey of survival. Of the 300 men who had embarked on the journey, only four survived - three Spaniards and an African slave.

This is how wars are fought now by children, hopped up on drugs, and wielding AK-47s. In the more than fifty violent conflicts going on worldwide, it is estimated that there are some 300,000 child soldiers. Ishmael Beah used to be one of them. How does one become a killer? How does one stop? Child soldiers have been profiled by journalists, and novelists have struggled to imagine their lives. But it is rare to find a first-person account from someone who endured this hell and survived.

powerful and troubling story
Revisado: 07-25-15
This is a powerful and well told story, and is also a hard reality to face. The story has many dimensions, some of familial love and human strnegth however the tale depicts the absolute horror of war. Thus many of the scenes are horribly violent and real and unjust, well beyond the scope of Hollywood . However, I got the impression that despite its emotionally tearing descriptions there is still much more and worse that was not said and left between the gaps. In the end there is a glimmer of a happy ending that allowed the he author to tell his tale of transformations in this book.

Few events have had a more profound impact on the social and cultural upheavals of the Sixties than the psychedelic revolution spawned by the spread of LSD. This audiobook for the first time tells the full and astounding story - part of it hidden till now in secret Government files - of the role the mind-altering drug played in our recent turbulent history and the continuing influence it has on our time. And what a story it is, beginning with LSD’s discovery in 1943 as the most potent drug known to science.

This book tells the complex story of lsd in well written, captivating and journalistic way. The book spans crazy cia experiments, governement conspiracy, orgiastic lsd driven cults, and an overarching cultural revolution fueled by psychedelics.
Highly recommended as a window into a fascinating and relavant part of American history.
