Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

I loved the authenticity of the author
Revisado: 12-31-24
I think having a memoir like this it’s important. It humanizes those individuals who have been dehumanized for far too long. I think with less judgement and more love many diagnosis can lose the stigma and many men and women can become more authentic and clear and able to get the help they want and need. Loved the story and loved ending…both endings :)

Historia
All her life, Zofia has found comfort in two things during times of hardship: books and her best friend, Janina. But no one could have imagined the horrors of the Nazi occupation in Warsaw. As the bombs rain down and Hitler’s forces loot and destroy the city, Zofia finds that now books are also in need of saving. With the death count rising and persecution intensifying, Zofia jumps to action to save her friend and salvage whatever books she can from the wreckage, hiding them away, and even starting a clandestine book club.

The reality of sacrifice
Revisado: 01-10-24
This book gave me even more love for literature than I knew humanly possible. Reading about the sacrifices men and women made to save so many books from being destroyed set a new fire in me to read as much as I possibly can. If we are not continuing to read and love and value books, their lives were lost in vein.

The raw authenticity.
Revisado: 01-10-24
This biography gave me words I never had, for feelings I’ve never shared, for my deep confusion, my pain. It opened my eyes to the brainwashing and painful indoctrination in so many parts of my life. It made me feel seen. It made me feel less shame. It made me feel like I am not alone. Others face the same confusion, the same fear, the same guilt and have been told the same lies. Have been gaslit to believe the opposite of what was. It gave me content to bring into my own therapy, it brought me a piece of healing in my own life. It’s a hard story to read, and can be quite triggering (though there’s warnings and you can slip parts of needed) but it’s real, raw, honest and it’s so much more common than you would ever want to believe. I’ve got a lot of healing that needs to take place still, but I’m so grateful for the men and women like Jessica Willis Fisher who are brave enough to share their stories in such an impactful way. 💛

Historia
It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

I didn’t agree with a lot of what he said, but can understand parts of it and how and why it could be beneficial to look inside to see different parts of ourselves, where they came from and how to heal and work and live in harmony with our whole selves.

Great read for therapists and clients alike
Revisado: 09-22-23
If you’re interested in, thinking about it even hesitant to try EMDR therapy this book is for you! There’s very little trigger context, and they warn you before reading it. They go through all stages, and really give all the information you need to makes an informed decision if it’s right for you. It also gives resources on how to find a good EMDR therapist. Following along with the physical copy of the book helped me with the visuals etc…
