Historia
Few figures in American politics have seen more and said less than Mitt Romney. An outspoken dissident in Donald Trump’s GOP, he has made headlines in recent years for standing alone against the forces he believes are poisoning the party he once led. Romney was the first senator in history to vote to remove from office a president of his own party. When that president’s supporters went on to storm the US Capitol, Romney delivered a thundering speech from the Senate floor accusing his fellow Republicans of stoking insurrection.

As boring as you might expect
Revisado: 11-29-24
I thought, given the high rating, that it might be good. It wasn't. It was boring.

Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

Fascinating man with a huge impact
Revisado: 10-31-23
Walter Isaacson is a heck of a storyteller. As someone who can't easily follow history books (my brain gets lost on too many names and dates), I easily sped through this engaging story of a man who, while flawed in many ways, is leaving an incredible impact on the world.

Doesn't stand the test of time
Revisado: 10-31-23
I read this book because it's a classic and gave it 3 stars for it's cultural significance but it's generally annoying and trying waying too hard to be funny.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

How do you finish this
Revisado: 01-06-23
I applaud those who have the patience to finish this book. I listened to the first 10 hours of this 24 hour booking waiting for it to get interesting. The first part was written well enough to keep me interested in the characters but then the book "jumped the shark" when it started getting into the meat of the story.
If I stuck it out to the end would my opinion be different... maybe but I don't see how that's possible.

Lacks depth but interesting to learn about him
Revisado: 02-27-22
I didn't know much about Carlin prior to reading this other than some youtube clips. While I find it interesting to learn the details of his career, i don't feel that he revealed any emotional or narrative depth in the story. I don't regret listening but it's a solid 3 out of 5.

A must listen for anyone who has read bad blood
Revisado: 09-16-21
If you read Bad Blood and enjoy it, this book gives amazing color to Tyler Shultz's story.
The narration style which is almost conversational (with one person) makes for easy listening.
I highly recommend this.

It was entertaining until it jumped the rails
Revisado: 06-08-21
No spoilers.
I have read and enjoyed other Nelson DeMille books but this one was not as good. In fact, I stopped ready 7/8 through the book because the book jumps the rails as soon as the main character engages in activities that conflict with his character. Also attempts at sounding chauvinistic to be funny, miss the mark. I wasn't offended, I just didn't find the humor well written.

Love a time loop but this didn't quite get there
Revisado: 03-25-21
For anyone saying this is comparable to Replay, take a hike. The main character barely takes advantage of the time loop effect and is generally an annoying downer. The book held my attention but I expected it to go somewhere interesting with the time loop. It let me down on that front.
I wouldn't recommend this for fans of time loop books (like me).

WTF - Easy read, a pointless ending (no spoilers)
Revisado: 03-08-21
I don't understand why more reviews don't talk about this. Yes, this book was an easy and engaging read but the ending adds nothing to the storyline and wasn't a surprise because they give it away earlier in the book.
This is the kind of book that really could have popped with a decent ending... it did not.
