It's been a while since I've written a review, but I just finished listening to this book and had to write my thoughts and feelings. I first became acquainted with Dr. Attia when I watched Limitless on the Disney Channel, on YouTube and on his podcast, The Drive. I've always loved listening to his advice and everything health-related, but it was not until he read the chapter on emotional health that I truly came to admire the man; my eyes welled throughout this specific section. I kept remembering Karen Eber's talk on Ted, "How your brain responds to stories," and as I cried, I thought of the term 'neuro-coupling.' Excellent book! I got a lot from all the advice. My favorite part, bar none, was when Dr. Attia thanked his wife, Jill, at the end the book.

From the start of the book, I could not stop crying. Crying with joy, and pride, but mostly from the realness of her story. I felt connected. I first watched Viola Davis in The Help and loved it. I never bought into the criticisms of the film because I don't believe in the white savior proposition. I have listened to enough African-American biographies-here on Audible, to relegate a white person in the South who cares about a black person as their white savior. It diminishes the humanity of the former while at the same time propagating the lie that black people need saving. I learned a lot about her plight as a black actor and the roles that are seldom created for actors like her. I loved her attitude of forgiveness and understanding towards her father. Finally, her biography made me think of Brene Brown and her book, The Power of Vulnerability. It was Viola's willingness to be vulnerable and expose her true self that made this book one of the best I've listened to.

Loved the author from previous books. Did not disappoint. The Warrior Ethos provides background for Gates of Fire, insofar as it provides incidental details of Spartan Life.

This is one of the best books I've listened to. The combination of Hemingway's moving story and Donald Sutherland's soothing voice is exceptional. I could not stop listening. What a great listen!

I have to say that coming in I did not expect to come out of this listen with the amount of respect and admiration I’ve since developed. His respect for the stance Senator Cooper took in support of the civil rights legislation and his willingness to put aside party first mentality to vote against President Reagan for vetoing sanctions against apartheid South Africa were inspiring. And to boot, he’s funny. Wonderful listen!

My third time listening to this audiobook. The narrator takes use to, but the book is awesome.

The beginning of the book was very tedious, but as soon as the writer started alternating the story in Mars and the story back on earth, it became a very nice listen.

I actually enjoyed The Odyssey more than The Iliad. Everything about this audiobook was great: the story, the performance by Lescault, & the amount of references still in use today; for example, birds of a feather, etc. my eyes welled often, and I hope yours do too.
