Better than Book I
Revisado: 03-08-15
An intelligent, interesting story that has heart. The narrator I think is the best one I have come across within the Audible library. A very entertaining read.

Historia
A man must survive the zombie apocalypse armed with only a shotgun, a Samurai bat, and the will to live among the unliving in this horror series debut. It’s been two years since civilization ended in an unstoppable wave of chaos and blood. Now, former house painter Augustus “Gus” Berry lives a day-to-day existence of waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the inevitable moment when “they” will come up the side of his mountain and penetrate his fortress.

Zombie heaven
Revisado: 08-27-14
This is a very entertaining and original spin on the zombie genre. I really liked the hero of this story (which I never expected!). I love it when hero's are relatable and where they dont do all the dumb things that you are screaming at them not to do when facing a zombie apocalypse. Cant wait for the next one.

Self-absorbed hero makes for a disappointing read
Revisado: 08-27-14
I found this book pretty boring. The hero (and presumably the author) were very absorbed in pointing out how clever, smart and chauvinistic the hero could be; however in doing so made the hero come across more as a self-obsessed teenager. Pretty boring reading for a grown up zombie book lover

Not bad
Revisado: 04-20-12
I found the narration a bit distracting with all the breathy noises and sighs. I also found it difficult that the "hero" was so unrelentingly self deprecating. In the end though, the plot got interesting and I dont regret the "read". I will look for more books from this author (indeed I bought one today!).

A truly dissapointing read. It is difficult to understand why this was prioritised to be an audiobook when there are so may great romance novels out there. The characters just seemed shallow and uninteresting to me.

Not her best work
Revisado: 04-20-12
If you like Jackie Collins, you will like this (I dont).
I you like Susan Phillips when she is funny and light, this book will be a sad dissapointment.
Unless you skip at least the first seven chapters you will find yourself in a quagmire of misery listening to this story. I would save your money for other Phillips books.

Historia
Sergey and Marina Dyachenko mix dramatic scenes with romance, action and wit, in a style both direct and lyrical. Written with a sure artistic hand, The Scar is the story of a man driven by his own feverish demons to find redemption and the woman who just might save him. Egert is a brash, confident member of the elite guards and an egotistical philanderer. But after he kills an innocent student in a duel, a mysterious man known as “The Wanderer” challenges Egert and slashes his face with his sword, leaving Egert with a scar that comes to symbolize his cowardice.

He's a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He's also a knight errant who's wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out, and his rule is simple: he'll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half.

talented but chauvanist writer
Revisado: 04-20-12
There is some beautiful writing in this book but listening to John MacDonald's 1950ish views on women while interesting can also be depressing.
Good girls are worth protecting . Sexually promiscuous girls "bad" girls have no redeeming traits. The male hero of course can sleep with whoever he likes without judgement. MacDonald is a talented product of hs times but I would not recommend his novels to women except as a curiosity.

Historia
Tony Webster and his clique first met Adrian Finn at school. Sex-hungry and book-hungry, they would navigate the girl-less sixth form together, trading in affectations, in-jokes, rumour, and wit. Maybe Adrian was more serious than the others, certainly more intelligent, but they all swore to stay friends for life. Now Tony is retired. He’s had a career and a single marriage, a calm divorce. He’s certainly never tried to hurt anybody. Memory, though, is imperfect. It can always throw up surprises, as a lawyer’s letter is about to prove.

A pointless book. I felt no connection with the primary character who was obsessed with a relatively minor incident in his life and just needed to MOVE ON!!!!
