Historia
Motherhood isn’t easy, especially when you’re a mother of a Black son. Ten years ago, Cheryl jumped at the chance to send her son, Javonte, to an exclusive boarding school in New England - far away from Atlanta and the violence of the city streets. It was the American dream, or was it? Now settled in Vermont, Javonte is married and well-employed, but Cheryl hardly ever sees him, and when she does, her own son seems like someone she only used to know.

Was a great listen
Revisado: 05-10-20
his book is like if a thriller happened in an area that was no bigger than your local neighborhood. So many unlikely coincidences and conveniences. I listen to this book on audio and it was well performed. Actually, that’s what saved this book

Well performed, story was just ok
Revisado: 05-10-20
Just okay and that's saying something. Despite getting excited every year for a new John Grisham, he just isn't writing as well as he used to. That said, the fact that I could turn this on and let it play and listen while I did busy work is what often saves a novel that I probably wouldn't sit through.

Historia
Stable, safe, predictable—all words that aptly describe Professor Nadia Day’s life. An existence she’s carefully crafted for herself despite her unconventional upbringing and what, to her, is an unseemly past. The last thing she would ever do is rock the boat when it comes to her life and livelihood. When retired football player and single dad, Nathan Moore, walks into her psychology classroom, all fine and dreadlocked, he does more than rock her boat—he rocks her world and causes her to question her buttoned-up existence.

and in case she didn't, she does now! GO ON GIRL! The narration was on point as usual, but if they don't have something good to read, it cant stand up on it's own. Pretty sure I yelled out some cuss words listening to this one. So SO proud of you! Keep doing it!

Music to my ears!
Revisado: 10-29-19
I can't believe this is the last book! I have loved this entire ride and this narrator has been perfect from JUMP.
I thoroughly enjoyed the final chapter of the Branch Avenue Boys series! I’ve been pacing since the end of book two, on pins and needles waiting to hear what happens to Jamal, Derek and Ricky… and most importantly, the Mayor and Dolla Dolla. To say this ending was fitting and satisfying is to seriously short change the ending installment to this series. Simply perfect.
Shelly Ellis writes delicious drama, realistic and nuanced characters in a vivid setting… I plan to re-read all three books now that the series is over. Already can’t wait for the next offering from this author.

I have already read this book but I like to get the audio too so I can listen as I read along. Really perfect performance of this title. Got lost in the story and the narrator didn't take away from that.

Historia
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.
