Insight into family mayhem...we all got one

Anyone grappling with hard questions of family dysfunction and how to maneuver them in your mind must read this book. Beyond being entertaining and having a storyline that seems to draw you in only to make no sense of the human heart will keep you wondering what brings a person back to keep trying. Heartbreaking and frustrating at times this book is a great read for anyone that struggles with their own family BS. This book is not for the easily offended by religious topics. It is a book that justifies the means to an end on both angles.

First let me say that I love David Sedaris. He has such a down to earth humorous outlook on life and I relate to a lot of his stories. Although, I do not relate to how he is extremely negative about our president, Donald Trump. Regardless of your opinion, whether you’re liberal, independent or conservative, I think we should come together as a nation; not be so divisive. I get that this is his opinion and he can say whatever he wants to, thank goodness we have that amendment. But this is your heads up that he is anti-gun, anti-conservative and anti-president. You’ve been warned.

Listenable classic

I have always been hesitant to read this book. I am glad I chose to finally listen to it. It is engaging and a timely classic which will melt your heart. The performance was read a little too quickly for me. At times it felt like she was on superspeed. This should be a mandatory read for all high school students and I’m sorry it took me 50 years to get there.

Fascinating story about the involvement of women during the civil war. Although written well, for me it was difficult to keep all the women straight; who did what and when. The biggest drawback is the narrative by Karen White. Is she really a person? Her voice mimics a computer and has zero inflection. I’d steer clear of this book if you don’t wish to hear a recorded message sounding book.

Little girl learns about life

This book should be a young reader/teen book. It was kinda preachy and filled with life lessons. I suffered through it as i have learned all these lessons by now, but I did want to know what happened. The narrator had the same voice she used for the girls father and her black woman friend. Kinda confusing.
