Historia
Authors June Hayward and Athena Liu were supposed to be twin rising stars: same year at Yale, same debut year in publishing. But Athena’s a cross-genre literary darling, and June didn’t even get a paperback release. Nobody wants stories about basic white girls, June thinks. So when June witnesses Athena’s death in a freak accident, she acts on impulse: she steals Athena’s just-finished masterpiece, an experimental novel about the unsung contributions of Chinese laborers to the British and French war efforts during World War I.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Fun read
Revisado: 02-23-22
This story was a fun read. A little different from other books by this author but it was good. The characters are interesting. The protagonist was very real and relatable. A relaxing read with enough twists and turns to make it engaging.

Historia
Caroline Murphy swore she'd never set foot back in the small Southern town of Peachtree Bluff; she was a New York girl born and bred and the worst day of her life was when, in the wake of her father's death, her mother selfishly forced her to move - during her senior year of high school, no less - back to that hick-infested rat trap where she'd spent her childhood summers.

Sweet Summer Story
Revisado: 11-11-21
I loved this summery story about a mother and her three adult daughters. Not only does it take place at the beach, it also highlights the bonds of love shared by this close family of very diverse personalities.
Just enough twists and turns in the story to make it interesting and fun, yet very believable. If you are looking for a sweet escape to the beach with solid family values this story is for you.

Captivating Story
Revisado: 04-11-20
A well-told, expertly woven tale of family, relationships, mothers, children, and love. The enduring, unbreakable bond of maternal love. The ties that bind us and how they hold us tight and let us go. How we are alike yet different from each other. The various hopes, dreams, values we hold dear and how they uniquely manifest in our selves, our families and our communities. A captivating tale of love and loss.

Better than the Movie!
Revisado: 03-30-20
In Her Shoes is one of my all-time favorite movies. I own it and have enjoyed watching it multiple times. I was looking for a lighthearted story to listen to, and based on another reader's review, I took a chance on this, even though I know the story well. I was very pleasantly surprised at the richer story told in the novel. I loved the extra details and the differences between the novel and the movie. In particular, I loved how Maggie May's character is emphasized and given so much extra depth in the book. Highly recommended.

Welcome to the most tumultuous summer of the 20th century. It's 1969, and for the Levin family, the times they are a-changing. Every year, the children have looked forward to spending the summer at their grandmother's historic home in downtown Nantucket. But like so much else in America, nothing is the same.

One of her best!
Revisado: 07-07-19
Growing up on the East Coast I am very familiar with the places in this book. As a young woman in the Summer of ‘69, I remember Woodstock and the Vietnam War, I loved the titles of the chapters honoring the music of the time.
Great story, Thanks, Elin!
