Historia
Jason and his companions managed to forestall the inexorable undead, but their battle is far from done. Both they and their enemies are scattered across a strange realm, one that someone must conquer if anyone is to get out alive. Territory by territory, factions fight to reunite their people and conquer the realm. Jason must contend with alliances he doesn’t want, friends he cannot find, and enemies ranging from angelic despots to the power of an undead god. He must face a realm that has been warped by his own mind and find a way to save a friend whose sacrifice got them this far.

you lost me at they
Revisado: 02-16-23
look, I get it, be who ever you want to be but using they them pronouns for an individual is just not proper English, and if you want to go down the "proper English" rabbit hole I know there is tons of normal every days that pass scrutiny and like I said be whoever you want but they, them, their is plural and when you as an individual choose to be know as many then it's very confusing to people, like all people, even people who identify as they them and they are living if they say they are not.
when you put it in writing it's even more confusing, every time the story gets to a they them part I'm so confused I loose track of the story. beyond that, leave your politics out your story! I was jamming on and dealing with the confusion till you had to preaching to Cass now I don't care and I'm done reading/listening. sorry Nick, I love your narration but I'm out on this story.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

it took me at least 100 pages.....
Revisado: 01-24-22
it took me at least 100 pages to get into the story, after the last year of listening to Nick Podehl, and R.C. Bray, truly the greats of narration, it took a while to get use to a new proformance. My biggest concerns in this and now I'm hearing in the next book, there are a lot of crammed clips, bad pacing in edit. There are a lot of spot, or at least enough to annoy me, where you can tell the difference between one take and another, almost like picking up mid sentence the next day when he's more fresh.
like I said, I'm just being picky....
other than that I love the story, fresh way to litRPG without being overly chart heavy. Stat sheets are great to scan over when you are eyes to paper reading. you can get all you need at a scan after seeing it a few times , but in a audio book, sometime it can go on as long as the Land itself.

Historia
When the great red star Calamity appeared in the sky, some believed the end had come. They were right. Calamity created the Epics: humans with incredible powers they didn't deserve. They could have saved mankind. They could have lifted us into harmony and prosperity. Instead they burned. They slaughtered. They conquered. And then they ruled. Jax has learned all of this the hard way. Orphaned at an early age, he's spent most of his childhood training to be a Reckoner - determined to find the Epics' weaknesses, unlock their secrets, and protect those of us who are still left.

suspension of disbelief...
Revisado: 08-19-21
so, I know it's fiction and all and don't get me wrong, Sanderson is a great smart writer and I have loved this series but I don't love this book. one of the main devices they use in the book, it has a huge disability, no spoilers.... but at least twice that serious key element of they device just stops being an issues because the device broke. it's lazy writing for a guy who writes book series that span decades in the telling.

What a fresh story, I love Ozzy's character his so smart, and so sheltered from the world that everything is amazing to him. Ren, is he a wizard, is he not? love it.

Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

kind of a tough start but pays off
Revisado: 03-23-21
had a real hard time early in the book caring about the story being developed, but as it progressed and started to fill out the plot it was able to keep my interest although at a cost. I'd already kind of given up on it in the first 10 chapters and only kept going because I bought the book and needed something to listen to.
okay, that's a bit rough but not an untruth. As time when and the plot thickened I found myself in grossed in what was coming next and now I'm excited about the next book. I just feel like the pacing of the introduction to this new world of magic came very slow and I would have like at least a chapter explaining this world and the magic in it a little better. as apposed to giving you little bit as the book goes on like the main character is learning everything as you are when he grew up in this world and already knows a lot. even the potter books explained more in the first chapters than this book does and potter come in completely blind to the idea of magic.
over all in the end, after the long learning curve of the magic in this world, the story and characters developed into a fun story and like I said, I'm looking forward to the next installment.
why I think I'll start it right now.

Historia
Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

I've been wanting....
Revisado: 10-12-20
to do this one for a while. Every year (October) I try to do at least one of the classics last year doing Frankenstein. This one didn't fail and shined a light on much of the lore of vampires we are so use to. I really didn't expect the length of the novel, and having seen the movie based on it, I expected quite a bit more store as with Frankenstein but jeeze! that movie barely scratches the surface and if I remember only tells of the first act. I wanted to read the book before rewatching it so as to see with a fresh mine the differences.
I'd say this original Dracula is a must read for any classing horror goer.
