We Need More Michelle
Revisado: 11-17-24
After this last election, I needed something hopeful to listen to.
it is beyond explanation that half the country could go into a voting booth and choose the narcissistic con man who thinks his own supporters are all idiots, and tells them so every day. Why would a voter degrade themselves
Michelle Obama is one of the smartest, most eloquent speaking women of our time. Now, if only the half the country, would put down their misogyny and hate, and pick up her book.

Historia
Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that she’s a prominent socialite, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been bumps along the way. Less than a year since her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order, free to do as she wishes while Jackson sits in prison. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Amber’s time—and money—is vanishing.

Fool me Twice
Revisado: 11-10-24
I was disappointed in the actions of the main character, Daphne. It seems she learned nothing in the first novel, and was still just a weak idiot. As the saying goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." She was definitely dumb enough to be fooled twice.
That said, there were enough twists and turns, as well as interesting, strong, smart characters to keep me engaged in the story. But, I recommend just ditching Daphne in the next novel.

Historia
Agatha Webb and her cook are found dead in the early hours of the morning after a successful party, and it seems just about anyone could be the killer. Some suspect her aging husband; others think it a robbery gone too far. A few nosy villagers draw a connection between this murder and the deaths of her six children so many years prior: Was she truly a victim, a grieving mother? Or did she play some role in these deaths? The list of suspects grows when a certain wealthy townsmen is blackmailed by someone who believes he murdered Agatha Webb and her cook.

Revisado: 10-30-24
Dull, boring snd way too long. There were only 3 female characters, and their names were Agnes, Agatha and Abigail. Confusing. Couldn't the author think of names that weren't so similar?

Historia
Life at 15 isn't easy for a girl if she's shy and hates the way she looks. Each day is heaven or hell, depending on who talks to her, or who doesn't. So when she's finally accepted by a group, she doesn't refuse their party games, even if it means taking LSD. Soon she's taking little pills to wake up and others to go to sleep, and the days begin to blur. Based on a 15-year-old's diary, Go Ask Alice is the intimate account of one girl's fatal journey into the world of drug addiction.

Hilariously Fake
Revisado: 10-12-24
I find it truly unbelievable that, when originally released, people thought this "diary" was actually real?! The writing is incredibly cheesy, and the narrator's "golly gee", upbeat attitude, strains credulity.
For example, after a night if shooting heroin and being gang raped, the narrator sems to easily go back to her positive outlook on life. I mean, she can't wait to open a new shop with her friend. And she practically waxes poetic about the Christmas season.

Slow Speaker
Revisado: 07-12-24
There seems to be good information in this podcast. However, it is difficult to get past how incredibly slow the host speaks. It almost made me mistrust the speaker, as I believed she was drunk or cognitively impaired.
I realized, it was likely a control issue. That is, the host is likely used to being revered for her expertise, and people hanging on her every word. Usually, these people try to control their audience by speaking very slowly. Unfortunately, I don't recognize authority in this way, and I can't stand when people try to control others with slow speech. It just makes me dislike them.
I recommend listening at 2.2x speed, if you, in fact, decide to listen at all.

Unbearably Bad Narrator
Revisado: 06-29-24
I almost gave up on this book, several times. The narrator was so incredibly bad, that it really didn't matter how good the story may be.
I finally finished, and found that, ultimately, it was NOT worth sitting through hours of this narrator.

Pathetic, Whiny
Revisado: 06-29-24
i love Shalini Boland, but this one was a complete dumpster fire.
The main character is whiny and pathetic. Everyone thinks she's crazy, including herself.
When you constantly second guess yourself, apologize for things that aren't your fault and have no confidence in your ideas and actions, you are pathetic. Everyone will call you crazy, and, rightfully, they will treat you with disrespect.
And this reader has no patience for your whining and doesn't feel sorry for you.
