Historia
Getting into Faerie is risky enough. Getting out again may prove impossible. Entering Faerie is enough of a risk, never mind trying to free a changeling. That's never been done before, but that's exactly what has to happen if I'm going to rescue my best friend. So when I run into a half-blood thief who offers to help, I can't exactly say no. I mean, the guy seriously hates the fae. After all, one of them knocked up his mother. Digging deeper into the labyrinthine fae city kingdom, we soon start to unravel a mystery I never could have imagined.

Great continuation …
Revisado: 08-16-24
This is the seventh book I have read/listened to by this author. This book picked up where the first one left off-Cassie is going to the fae realm to look for her friend and finds much more than she bargained for, (including some of the humans reported to be missing yet not). The majority of this book is in this realm so we start to get a good glimpse into how the society there works.
Cassie learns of a third realm, gets caught by slavetraders and forced into service with a noble family. With her magic gone she needs to find out why, how to get it back and how to help the people trapped in the fae realm. Not to mu ch to ask for right?
I really enjoy how things take a logical path in this story so far- no super convenient moments of unreasonable luck. I love Cassie’s no bs attitude and ‘this is gunna suck but here we go’ approach to things.
This is the second book I have listened to by this narrator. She performs not reads this book. Her emphasis and expression is perfect and brings out the personalities of every character. I would in a heartbeat listen to another book narrated by her.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive / overly descriptive violence, there is a bit of minor swearing.

When the fae beckon, few resist. Even fewer return. As a veil witch, I'm used to taking out the supernatural trash. Everything from poltergeists to vampires, you name it and I've dealt with it. So opening a paranormal cleanup business just seemed to make sense. If I'm already dealing with the pests, why not get paid? But when I accidentally breach the faerie realm to encounter a girl recently reported missing, start seeing the ghost of a witch whose disappearance has never been solved, and discover a Book of Shadows that opens only for me, I can't just go back to business as usual.

An awesome start to the series that makes me want to listen to every book without a break
Revisado: 08-16-24
This is the sixth book I have read/listened to by this author and I would really like to listen to every book this author has written. I am enjoying the world and characters that have been created.
This book finds Cassie fairly new to returning to her body, so she is trying to learn how to engage with other people, learning new things about her magic and capabilities, and starting a business to try an pay the rent. She is meeting new people and learning about other types of magic and abilities she has been unaware of in the past.
Add to that opening a passageway to another realm, and ghosts that seem to have a message just for her and that’s a lot of story to cover.
This is not a standalone book. The book ends with a reveal and the lead into the next book.
I am glad i have the next book in cue.
This is the first book I have listened to by this narrator. She performs not reads this book. Her emphasis and expression is perfect and brings out the personalities of every character. I would in a heartbeat listen to another book narrated by her.

Historia
When Zabat’s Comet threatened to destroy the planet, society ripped itself apart in violent, hedonistic glory. But instead of bringing extinction by fire, the comet unleashed a cloud of hazardous dust over the Pacific Northwest. Within it lurks a sinister alien being that both threatens annihilation and promises transcendence. While some unite to destroy the force field containing the dust, others put their lives on the line to keep it contained. Humanity faces a new set of challenges that put into question the very essence of what it means to be human.

Greatly want to listen to book 3 to hear the end!
Revisado: 08-12-24
This is the second book I have read/listened to by this author and I really want to hear how this story finishes.
I am enjoying the alien twist on the apocalyptic outline. And although there are some unavoidable human traits that need to be expressed during an apocalyptic event, her story is still fresh and different. This book has less of the truly disturbing side of humanity, but the author definitely does not shy away from difficult topics.
This is a continuation on from where book one left off with a cliffhanger.
This is the 13th book I have listened to by this narrator and I think he reads this genre very well. He brings out the characters personalities and gives each of voice. He does not really use accents to differentiate, but the characters are distinguishable. His style helps draw me into the story and to forget someone is reading to me.
I don’t think I have been disappointed yet by a book he has chosen to narrate.
There is a background noise to the audio quality, but after the first book, I am used to it. That is my only reason for putting the narration as 4/5.
There are no explicit sex scenes, there is discussion of child abuse and violence, but it is not overly described. I believe there is some swearing, but very minimal that I don’t even remember much of it.

When our vampire friend, Nora, reaches out for help, what choice do I have but to try? At least that’s what I tell myself when I open a doorway into an unfamiliar realm—the result being that I reunite Nora with her long-dead vampire lover. Kind of weird, I know, but that’s not the problem.

Revisado: 08-04-24
I have read all the books in this series until now. Every single one has been awesome. I have loved that the chapters are also dedicated to Cassie, which hints at the other series… Can’t wait to listen to that and find out more! This book we get even more of the magical creatures. We get to see more of Nora, which was enjoyable and other vampires and wolves. The conflicts have a backstory to them. It’s not just evil person wants to take over the world and good guy needs to beat them. I really enjoy the complexity of these characters. The narrator once again does very well bringing this book to life. She’s really able to bring out the snarkiness and sarcasm and malice , etc in the different characters. There is no excessive violence or sexual acts. There is occasional swearing.

Only put four out of five for narration due to audio quality
Revisado: 08-04-24
This is the first book I have read/listened to by this author and I’m looking forward to book two. The chapters are divided amongst several main characters : Jack, Colleen, Laura, Dan, and Craig. One a scientist, another feeling, he has nothing left, a junkie, a woman on her own and a woman with her husband and kids.
I enjoy how we are getting the story from so many different angles and perspectives, and of course, being in a confined area to a degree, their paths cross or likely will cross.
There is definitely a creep factor to these books.
Like many post apocalyptic books the story involves the depraved side of humanity. But this is not just a story of someone trying to get across an unreasonable long distance to find another family member during an apocalyptic event. There is a lot more to this story, which I cannot say without spoiling anything- what I can say is…I am extremely interested to see where this story is going!
There is swearing, discussion of pedophilia; child abduction, abuse and murder; discussion of adult rape and murder. The violent acts are discussed, but not but not excessively described.
This is the twelfth book I have listened to by this narrator. I enjoy everyone of his renditions. He brings natural voices to all the characters, and although in this book, he does not really use accents to differentiate his characters, all do have separate voices and personalities. He narrates this post apocalyptic genre style well.
Unfortunately, there is a background crackle to the quality of the audio. It is most noticeable during pauses or silences. Kind of sounds like the noise from a scary movie where a bunch of beatles or bugs are scrambling towards you -or tiny bots. I was able to eventually able to ignore it during the majority of the book. I was not listening with headset, in which it may have been a bit more noticeable. However, the story and the narrator do help to overcome this.

Can't wait for my ten year old to listen to this
Revisado: 08-03-24
This is the 34th book I have read/listened to by this author . She is my favorite dragon story writer. I love that many of her books are gentle enough for my ten year old to listen to.
I enjoy how the other characters have as much of an important role in this story as the main character Cora. Octavia, the princess, plays a big role as do the rebels
It is refreshing when an author does not have a clueless heroine/ hero who in a short time becomes fully trained and the only one capable to win the day. I is also refreshing when the bad guy is not so unrealistically overly powerful that beating him is almost insurmountable without this overly powered up hero/heroine.
This is the 7th book I have listened to by this narrator ( Amy Hall ). I listened to another series she narrated and found her narration occasionally stilted. I also noticed there was some issues with the writing, and now listening to her read this lets me know she did her best with what she had. I did not notice those same issues in this series. She does well with different voices and lets me immerse myself in the story- which is not hard to do with this writer. She does not try to go beyond what seems natural to her to voice the dragons. She does not really use accents to differentiate characters, instead relying on tone and cadence.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive / overly descriptive violence, or swearing.

This is the 33th book I have read/listened to by this author and I seriously grab any book of hers to listen to. She is my favorite dragon story writer. I love that many of her books are gentle enough for my ten year old to listen to.
In this story the dragons are considered a threat and dragon riders a myth. We of course learn this is wrong and there are wild dragons, dragons that struggle to communicate with humans and others that have the ability to speak with humans and bond. Cora is the first one in a long time to become a dragon rider, but this happening sets off a chain reaction that initiates a change in the dragons. We also learn more about why most people feel dragon riders are a myth.
I love how the characters build relationships with each other and learn to rely on help - dragons and humans.
This is the 6th book I have listened to by this narrator ( Amy Hall ). I listened to another series she narrated and found her narration occasionally stilted. I also noticed there was some issues with the writing, and now listening to her read this lets me know she did her best with what she had. I did not notice those same issues in this series. Just when we thought the threats we were facing might finally be gone, a magical attack forces us to realize we couldn’t be more wrong. As if the supposed “Pureblood” witches would stop trying to take down magical mutts like us. Among them these days is our old friend, Zachary, and if he’s behind the attack he’s right in thinking we haven’t forgotten how he betrayed us. Which may be why he decided to strike first. Like they say, there’s no animal more dangerous than one who fears itself cornered.

Another fun listen
Revisado: 07-21-24
This is the fifth book I have read/listened to by this author and I I’m looking forward to finishing this series but also reading the others that are in the same world. There is a series about Cassie as well as the Demi girl who rescued her.
Book starts with the group leaving the realm they’ve been hiding in and become comfortable with. (I think the Donna’s are funny, and their familiars are also entertaining). They are still hiding from the ‘true’ witches and wind up in a protected parkland with all sorts of magical creatures, including ones that run the restaurant.
A good amount of the story however is about Amaya as she is in the demon realm.Amaya is trying to help Lolo rescue a friend she left behind when she escaped. The Sentinel that gets bound to Amaya’s soul while she is conscripted into the bounty hunters adds an interesting twist.
There is still a couple chapters dedicated to Cassie.
This is the fifth book I have listened to by this narrator. I think she does well with the character voices. She does have a bit of a pause to her narration at times that emphasizes the sections of the story that where there was a lot of ‘he said, she said, he said’ I find that kind of pulls me from the story a bit and makes me realize I’m being read too. I have another series by one of my favourite authors in the queue, so I am definitely looking forward to hearing her natation narration of it.

There is occasional swearing.

When a dragon bulldozes through a portal and into the grounds of her Texas school, Ophelia Monroe can barely believe her eyes. Dragons and magic are just fairy tales, right? Then the dragon bonds with her to spite a Fae prince, and suddenly Ophelia is dragged into a different realm: a world of Fae intrigue and deception where, as Prince Corrin informs her, her dragon bond has made her Queen of the Fae.

Multi realm story with many creatures and dragons
Revisado: 07-20-24
I have listened to over 20 of her books and I will continue listen to any she writes. I have enjoyed every one.
Every one of her books I’ve listened so far has been part of a trilogy. I have enjoyed this format since every trilogy tied into the the same world. Some were in a different time yet same place, and others were just a different location of the same area, but the same world nonetheless. Therefore the trilogies worked really well.
This is the first book in the series Charassi Fae Queen I have listened to. This series has six books in it. I am excited to see how much we can learn about the characters and this world.
This story involves other creatures (like pixies) in it aside from humans and dragons. There are two realms. The human, non-magic and the dragon’s realm. Ophelia accidentally comes across Prince Corrin and the dragon he is chasing in an attempt to make it bond with him. He wants to become High King to try and right many wrongs in his homeland. In an effort to thwart the prince, the dragon bonds with Ophelia instead. Now they both must deal with this new situation and Prince Corinn takes her to his realm as she is now the High Queen. Not only does he need to help her learn her magic and keep her safe, but he needs her to help do what he no longer can do - but not everyone envisions the changes Prince Corinn does.
This is the first book I have listened to by Mago Weston. Voice has a calm, seemingly quiet quality to it. Her pacing is good and comfortable. Her character voices are distinct, but not widely different. I think she did well narrating the book.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive / overly descriptive violence.

One chance. That's all I’ll have. Along with a choice I can't possibly make. In just a few weeks, I’ve gone from living in a psychiatric hospital, to learning I have magic, to joining a secret society of witches. I've also had to come to terms with both what I am and where I came from. Half demon, half witch, born in the demon real - a magical mutation created for sacrificial purposes. It's so nice knowing that the woman who raised me only did so because she was planning to spill my blood on her sacrificial altar. So, yeah. No wonder I went crazy.

Loving the world, creatures and characters
Revisado: 05-29-24
This is the third book I have read/listened to by this author and I definitely want to listen to this series to completion. I also learned there is a series dedicated to Cassie. I definitely want to listen to that at some point. I especially love her as a character. She is flippant, sarcastic, gutsy, loyal, strong.
The chapters alternate between Cassie and Amaya’s point of view.
I like how Amaya is still only coming into her powers and figuring out what her Magic is capable of. She is new to the human world outside of an institution so she of course has reservations, moments that she neither understands or has context for, or is simply unsure how to respond in certain situations. I like how the author does not make her entirely vulnerable nor whiny or lacking in confidence And the mouse shifter-love that character! The situations this nervous girl gets into are quite funny- especially the incident with the car. For a good reason, she’s always worried about getting eaten.
This is the third book I have listened to by this narrator. I am getting into and quite enjoying her narration of these books. She does slightly lean towards reading, not entirely performing, but she does a wonderful job of getting me immersed in the story. I definitely would not want anyone else reading these books.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive / overly descriptive violence, there is occasional swearing.
