Storyline seemed drawn out and just subplot for sex scenes. Started out interesting then just fell off. Got so bored I didn’t finish it.

Tried too hard to tie Alice in Wonderland into EVERYTHING

I always love a murder mystery but the snarky, brittle personalities of 3 of the main characters became annoying. I wouldn’t want to spend time with the protagonist! I also found the constant Alice in Wonderland references and character quirks unnecessary and a totally artificial construct. Will say I did stay to the end to find out who did it but had to grit my teeth at times.

Having AI narration completely destroyed this book. It made it the most painful and boring process… So bad I couldn’t even finish the book. The story was fine, but the AI managed to take all adventure and passion and turn it into blah blah. There are no differences in voice characterization for any of the characters, the cadence of every line is almost exactly the same even in tense or passionate portions of the story, there is no tonal shift overall. I could go on and on… I don’t know how you can manage to take adventure and passion and make it so flat. This AI narration is a complete disservice to not only the author, but to all the loyal Audible listeners out there. I would suggest boycotting any book narrated by AI – I know I will be.

I really wanted to like this book but the characters were one-dimensional, and their attributes were beyond belief. Protagonist literally pants every time she's in trouble which is every other chapter. Hero's best friend is a misogynist and then add a disabled child to the mix. Plot off the believability chart by millions of miles. Just...bad

Amazing book! The author is so brave in her honesty about her experience and writes in such a compelling way I finished it in one sitting. I would never have believed a book about this sensitive and at times divisive subject could be uplifting, joyous, heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time. I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to know more about adoption or about how to face difficult life decisions. This story will stay in my heart.

I was caught up in the true crime story that grew to so much more. Beautifully crafted and presented with a unique and authentic voice.

I couldn't even finish this. Although I can understand some of the struggles facing millenials, it lost all credibilty when the point of the book is the burn out people are facing trying to find a job that makes them perfectly happy and that they can brag about on social media. The author speaks of the parental generation having it easier. I think maybe they just worked hard, didn't expect their job to "fulfill them" but to pay the bills, and expected to still have to work at home to make their personal life complete. They lived their lives in real time rather than playing them out on social media and looking to others for their own self worth.

the narrator has an extremely irritating way of pronouncing any word ending with nt or nd. I will never listen to her again!

Idea was interesting but I found the authors narrative far too egocentric and her singing poor. other singers did well, but all her numbers were frequently flat in pitch and she struggled between registers like she was extremely tired or out of voice.
