Historia
Oakland-bred LaVeesha “Vee” Gilliam (Coco Jones) is a determined single mother of an autistic son and a gifted aspiring coder. When Vee loses her job as a food-services worker at the onsite restaurant at Grapengine, a large Silicon Valley tech company, she’s unable to pay for her son’s much-needed specialized education. By a twist of fate, mistaken identity, and her tech skills, Vee meets Troy Wilson (Keith Powers), the company’s wealthy founder and CEO and a wunderkind in the tech industry, who believes that Vee is a college-educated techie who works at his company.

Great cast but subpar story
Revisado: 10-06-24
Wonderful full cast narration! It’s an enjoyable short listen, but there are too many unsettling aspects of the story for me. There is great potential, especially with an app designed to help the main character’s son who is on the autism spectrum. The parts with the son are high points! But overall I couldn’t fully appreciate the great aspects due to the pitfalls in the story. Worth listening to though.

Historia
Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Entertaining full cast mystery!
Revisado: 10-06-24
The narrating cast does an excellent job so this is entertaining to listen to. The storyline of the mystery isn’t fully fleshed out since it’s just a short audio, so there aren’t as many twists or details as a full novel mystery. But it’s great for what it is.

Historia
A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

So fun!
Revisado: 10-06-24
Fabulous full cast audio! So fun and entertaining! Especially loved Glen Powell’s narration! The story is a great concept! Some aspects of the storyline and miscommunication get annoying and seem immature; but it’s still en enjoyable listen.

What makes love stick? Is it the irresistible spark when you lock eyes across a piazza in Rome? Is it feeling the earth move under your feet? (Wait—that was an actual earthquake.) In these six serendipitous short stories, bestselling authors turn improbable first encounters into hopelessly romantic happy ever afters.

These short stories are so cute and fun!
Revisado: 01-28-24
I listened to (and read) these short stories mostly to get my hands on another story by Abby Jimenez. Her installment, Worst Wingman Ever, is amazing! Best story of the bunch. Surprisingly deep and full of emotion for such a short story, while still being cute and fun. I’m also a fan of several of the other authors included and enjoyed all of the stories. They are really short, so things move too fast and aren’t very realistic; but they are fun to read or listen to. I definitely recommend these if you enjoy romcoms and are looking for something light and enjoyable.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Cute and fun romcom!
Revisado: 01-17-24
So cute!
This is a short, fun romcom audio with excellent duet narration and great sound effects that helped add to the listening experience of this Audible original.
(Awarded Audible’s Best Romance of 2020)
I wanted something light, easy, entertaining and short today, and this fit the bill perfectly.
It’s a cute story of a call to customer service that goes on and on - but in a good way that involves some flirting and getting to know each other. There is some business talk and some interesting family dynamics on the side, but it’s mostly cute and fun. Definitely entertaining. Predictable, but in the best way, because I definitely needed Vera and Cal to meet IRL and have a HEA (or at least a first date.)
Definitely worth listening to for free on Audible if you like a fun and sweet romcom.
