Historia
Now the site of EBO’s first completed Red Cathedral, the Onyx Delta has become the center of the virtual world, and the entire player base is descending on Ned’s city to try their hand at the fearsome new raid and reap the game-changing rewards within. At the same time, a powerful, menacing guild is running roughshod over the western continents, razing every city in their wake and winning Frank’s obnoxiously loud approval from afar. But Ned knows that it’s only a matter of time before their forces sail east to the delta and attempt to burn down everything he’s built.

Good except for combat
Revisado: 01-27-24
The combat scenes are kind of boring. Just feels like he’s reading a list of what happened. Rest is good though.

When invasion looms...Tamas's invasion of Kez ends in disaster when a Kez counter-offensive leaves him cut off behind enemy lines with only a fraction of his army, no supplies, and no hope of reinforcements. Drastically outnumbered and pursued by the enemy's best, he must lead his men on a reckless march through northern Kez to safety, and back over the mountains so that he can defend his country.

What happened to Bo’s voice?
Revisado: 07-31-23
It was great except for the fact that Privileged Bo’s voice changed in this one for some reason. He sounds like a 90 year old man who smoked his whole life even though he’s supposed to be a 20 year old.

Still going strong
Revisado: 02-13-23
My one complaint is that I wish slightly fewer conversations between characters included a part about how awesome, cool, or unique Jason is. I’m fine with that happening, but maybe bring it down from 99% of all conversations to like 80%.

Historia
Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to coexist peacefully as equals, without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent.

Great, but not as good as first 2
Revisado: 04-11-22
This was overall a great book, but it didn’t live up to the first two for one key reason in my eyes — there were a significant amount of plot holes, and a significant amount of instances of people making incredibly dumb decisions — seemingly just to move the plot forward. These were problems that the first two books did not suffer from to nearly the same degree.

What happened?
Revisado: 06-08-20
This is the first book in the series I’ve given less that 5 stars.
The proportion of time spent in stat menus during this entry was insane. At first I understood because so much happened at the end of the previous book. I knew some stat dives were coming. But I just kept waiting for him to get past it and get back to the normal story and pacing, but it never happened.
A couple of other things that bugged me that I hope Aleron corrects in future entires:
Please stop telling us how awesome the MC is during every single fight. And please stop telling us how the old him never would have done these things. We get it. “Show don’t tell” etc
Also, I wish we would get out of his head a bit. Especially when there’s a ticking clock. There were instances in this book where the MC supposedly had just a few seconds to make a decision, or where he was in the middle of an intense fight, and he has a 5 minute dialogue in his head. For the first one, why even bother using the “X seconds to decide” mechanic if you aren’t going to actually stick to that?
The tone of this entry was all over the place, too. The series has always had a light-hearted side, but I feel like it went a too far in this one, especially with the “smart phone / Tinder” incident. That’s something I would except to see in a parody story. This series is often light hearted, but it’s never been straight up absurdist parody until that scene as far as I can remember.
I love this series. Idk what happened with this book, but I hope Aleron listens to his fans for the next one. He said in an interview that he thinks this book received worse reviews because people were mad that he took so long. I can assure you, this is not the case.
Nick Podehl still crushed it as always though.
