Beatriz Williams weaves an intricate story of women, loves and losses. It was excellent! I loved finding the answers to my questions as the story slowly untraveled. I have read all of her works, and I think this has become my favorite.

I enjoyed the development of the two main characters and the story told from the two different view points. It is so very interesting to think that a novel (Dr Zhivago), could cause such a stir and change in the world, and that a covert mission was established to see that it was spread through Cold War Russia. In today’s world it is so easy to spread information via the WWW.
An enjoyable read!

I loved this book and thought the changes the protagonist goes through were very fitting to what is was like to be a 20 something in the 90’s. My only concern is this author has a reoccurring theme of dislike for thin people and celebrating obesity as a norm. There are many long term health concerns that accompany eating that way.

I loved this book for many reason, but especially because the author correctly captured what it’s like to suffer from post pardon depression, and I hope any new mother experiencing it, will better be able to identify it. I suffered from but, but like the main character, Grace, didn’t identify it, because I wasn’t sad. I was restless, agitated, dark, and always on high alert for some unforeseen danger. The authors perfect description brought me much peace about what I went through when I had my children.
The story also culminates in a very satisfying and realistic ending, with a good understanding of what it was like for women when they were expected to just get married and produce children. It’s amazing how having control over our desire to produce offspring has liberated women.

I identified so strongly with all 4 women. My own journey into motherhood 20 years ago was much like this as I was also a wife and teacher. “I didn’t think it would be so hard”, is a quote from one of the characters that ring true for me too, especially after the birth of my second child 4 years later, and the late miscarriage I suffered at 26 weeks 18 months after that. Thank you Jennifer Weiner for capturing the struggles and joys of new motherhood so well.

I really enjoyed this novel about a relationship between two good, but broken people. I felt a strong connection to the main character, Beyah, and her childhood trauma. The story is well developed and has a satisfying ending.

This story has had some negative reviews for the ending, but I will say I found it true and satisfying. I think it depends on who you identify with.
This story and writing reminds me a lot of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. If you enjoy a psychological thriller with plenty of plot twists, this us for you!

I’ve read 12 books by this author and this is among my top 3. Well developed story line with a murder mystery. Nice twist at the end.
