Jack and Stephen are in the best hands/voice with Patrick’s and Tull
Revisado: 09-05-24
This series is phenomenal! Very satisfying reading for historical fiction fans. I will read/listen to all and then re-read and listen. Entertaining - On so many levels! I would compare the series to another excellent writer and narrator pairing about the same period in history, but the stories are from such unique author’s perspectives, anything I could put into words would only diminish the firsthand experience for you. Historia
At the opening of his third novel in an ongoing adventure series by Patrick O'Brian, Jack Aubrey is cruising off Cape Sicie when his friend Stephen Maturin (more serenely situated in Sussex) is informed of the Board's decision regarding Aubrey's prize money, taken after victorious engagement with a Spanish squadron at Cape Santa Maria. The money, five million pieces of eight, is not, as is the custom of war, to be divided among the crews of the four victorious vessels.

Jack and Dear Stephen and at Last, Sophie!
Revisado: 08-24-24
Maturin’s observations and joys and obsessions in life are thoroughly intriguing. Together with Jack’s knowledge, resourcefulness and piratical cunning make every detail of the time live like never before! Add Sophie’s delightful innocence and courage and all three’s love of each other and this third book in the Master & Commander series becomes as epic, interesting and fun as the first two. I really don’t care much for Diana, though. But, there has to be one fascinating villain. ZoeV

Revisado: 08-19-24
Stephen Maturin really shines in this second novel of the series. I feel like he is now known to me and such a true and becoming friend and ally for Jack! Serving Jack brings them both out of the doldrums. The end credits masterful!! ZoeV

Well, there really is nothing to dislike. I listened to several chapters again to pick up the elegance of prose Ms. Peters employed. The ending is tremendous! And makes Virgin in the Ice the best yet in the series. ZoeV

Ole Doc Methuselah is his name, and saving the universe is his game. He may be a touch absent-minded, a tad disorganized, with a slight tendency to lose all perspective in the presence of an attractive woman...but when it comes to saviors of the universe, you take what you can get. And what you get with Ole Doc Methuselah - the most famous member of the most elite organization in the universe, the Soldiers of Light - is action, spectacle, mystery, and plenty of laughs along the way.

Revisado: 02-01-23
Written in my Own Hearts Blood gets better each time. Diana Gabaldon’s creativity with each character is marvelous! I am at last beginning to understand the Scotch Highlander. I am deeply respectful and grateful of your attention to the details of the birth of our nation and to bringing so alive for me! I’m sure many, many readers agree. And the sex, love of family, passion and honor are really good!! ZoeV

Historia
Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Every Gabaldon Novel Compels Reading All
Revisado: 01-21-23
I always enjoy Diana Gabaldon’s attention to the recorded history of the time and her ability to weave the Outlander story into it. It brings the times, people and cultures alive better than any classroom could possibly do, ever. It makes me curious to read and find out more from other literature she has used for reference.
This historical romance is pretty unique and it’s aged so well. I believe secretly many men read Outlander and are just as compelled as I am for the next book. Each is so full, it begs reading and listening at least twice each.
Thank you, Diana! MLv, ZoeV

He left Cambridge University early when his first novel was accepted for publication. He wrote novels about the Saint throughout his life, becoming one of the 20th century's most prolific and popular authors.

The Returning Saint
Revisado: 11-22-22
I enjoyed continuing my late life adventures with the Saint. The return from his association with TV, though, was not as entertaining as an undiluted Leslie Chateris Saint adventure. Neither kept me on my toes or invoked bursts of laughter as Enter the Saint stories had done. Ah well, still hooked and will enjoy all, even those touched only partly by Mr. Chateris. ZoeV
