Not Just for Mamas
Revisado: 12-31-24
Once again, Mama Bear Apologetics has hit the nail on the head by providing an accessible, yet thorough, *introduction to a wide variety of subtopics under an important apologetic heading, namely, the purpose and proper exercise of human sexuality. I highly recommend this to all.

Historia
By far, the leading interpretation of todays Church regarding the age of this planet, Earth, takes us back to approximately 4004 BC: the year believed to be Adams creation. However, just as Galileo challenged the Church to accept that Earth circles the sun (not the other way around), it is far beyond time for traditional interpretations regarding our planets earliest ages (and what occurred between God and Lucifer during those eras) to be updated in light of what we know today. Once this is done, the evidence overwhelmingly stacks in favor of a harmony between science and theology.

This volume is an effective primer to a smorgasbord of subjects pertaining to first things historically and Biblically and their intersections within current scientific theory (be it in broad brush strokes for the scientific subjects).

What does God want? Sounds like a simple question, but if you give it a bit of thought, it’s really not. For starters, you have to know who’s asking the question. People will ask it for a lot of different reasons. Best-selling author Dr. Michael S. Heiser shows listeners that the answer is pretty simple. That might surprise you. There’s actually a long, remarkable story behind the answer - one that isn’t well known by most people interested in the question.

Since the advent of the internet, it has become increasingly obvious that our society suffers from a pornography problem—and Orthodox Christians are no exception. While many practical resources are available to help those who struggle with pornography use, these fail to address the problem at its deeper, spiritual root.

Superb Overview for Christian Doctrine of the West
Revisado: 08-26-24
As the title of this review suggests, I believe that this work provides excellent content pertaining to the development of Christian Doctrine in the West. The author - who demonstrates a wide command of the pertinent materials - presents his overview in what might be called a dispassionate delivery. In other words, his outline of the development of theology contains a minimum of personal evaluations. Readers whose hearts long for a focus on the Christian East (Syrian churches, Greek Orthodoxy, Assyrian Churches, the Armenian Church, etc.) will probably feel unsatisfied by the current work. Where are the fathers of the Coptic and Armenian churches? What of the thought of Ephrem the Syrian, David the Invincible, or Grigor the Illuminator?? Nevertheless, the reader who approaches this volume with the expectation that it is primarily a historical theology of Christian Doctrine in the West will most likely find it to be both adequate and pleasant.

Historia
Rev. Dr. Stephen De Young, creator of the popular The Whole Counsel of God blog and podcast, traces the lineage of Orthodox Christianity back to the faith and witness of the apostles, which was rooted in a first-century Jewish worldview. The Religion of the Apostles presents the Orthodox Christian Church of today as a continuation of the religious life of the apostles, which in turn was a continuation of the life of the people of God since the beginning of creation.

Overall Successful Defense of Main Thesis
Revisado: 08-08-24
In broad terms, yes, the orthodox Faith is in a direct continuum with the Apostles. The non-sequitur, however, is this: continuity does not demonstrate faithfulness. The Priesthood of Messiah’s day were in direct continuity with Aaron, but they were not faithful to him. To this, the imperialized mindset of the Easter Roman Orthodox Church, otherwise known as the Eastern Orthodox or Greek Orthodox Church, must turn her attention with fasting prayer.

Historia
In our modern age the biblical Genesis flood account has been probed and analyzed for answers to scientific, apologetic, and historical questions. It is a text that has called forth flood geology, fueled searches for remnants of the ark on Mount Ararat, and inspired a full-size replica of Noah's ark in a biblical theme park. Some claim that the very veracity of Scripture hinges on a particular reading of the flood narrative. But do we understand what we are reading? Longman and Walton urge us to ask, what might the biblical author have been saying to his ancient audience?

Informative, but flawed by modern bias
Revisado: 08-02-24
Authors are deeply steeped in a modern, naturalistic methodological approach, if not directly, then indirectly - and even subconsciously - by the interpretive stream from which they derive their authority to commentate on the text. Read with caution. With such materials, the bottom line is this: if you want to know how Jesus (and, by Him, all of God’s Word) wants to be interpreted, look to the paradigm given by Him on the Emmaus road. If you want to know by what agency Jesus is interpreted, look to his final discourse in the book of John (esp. ch.14-16). And If you want to get into interpreting the original material itself, then most likely, you will need to learn the original languages and read the documents for yourself; shortcuts to this approach may prove to be detours in the final result. With this caution in mind, the careful student of Scripture may still be benefited from the material and perspective presented in this book, especially if he or she has not been thereto previously introduced.
