Historia
Loretta Pacheco has a cool job at an electric car company. Her life finally seems headed in the right direction. But in a flash, it all starts to fall apart. What were the strange voices she heard as she lay injured by the side of the road? Why, exactly, did two young boys disappear all those years ago? And what is this strange sound in her head?

Awful sound
Revisado: 04-08-24
The story lacks proper ending, the story is confusing towards the end, and the sound is terrible (they tried too much to make all the sound effects which resulted in the voices sometimes not being heard properly). Not recommended.

Historia
Paris in 1895: Alfred Dreyfus, a young Jewish officer, has just been convicted of treason, sentenced to life imprisonment at Devil's Island, and stripped of his rank in front of a baying crowd of 20,000. Among the witnesses to his humiliation is Georges Picquart, the ambitious, intellectual, recently promoted head of the counterespionage agency that Dreyfus had passed secrets to the Germans. At first, Picquart firmly believes in Dreyfus' guilt. But it is not long after Dreyfus is delivered to his desolate prison that Picquart stumbles on information that leads him to suspect that there is still a spy at large in the French military.

An excellent book. Well written, well read. Tbe story is captivating and reminds us of the universality of human struggle; there has always been politics, greed, honesty and deceit . The reader was wonderful. A must for all those who want to experience history in the present.

Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

Voice slowdown ruined book
Revisado: 01-07-20
In the 60's, 70's and 80's, when radio was very popular, the stations slowed down the voice of the disc jockeys to give them a throaty raspy sound. I'd bet a potful of money the producers did the same thing here. The readers voice was like sandpaper. The narrative was destroyed and in addition to being difficult to listen to, many words were unintelligible. This is not the first book I've suspected this to be the case. But by far the worst.
The story was OK. Great Wilbur Smith stuff. But so hard to get through.
A good reader can make a book come alive the producers killed this one

Voice sounds manipulated
Revisado: 08-10-19
The book was pretty good. But I suspect the voice was electronically manipulated. Like in the 70's when they would slow the voices on the radio down to give it a raspy, deeper quality. It was hard to listen to. But I'm a Wilbur Smith fan and I enjoyed the story.

The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Horrible Producer/Director
Revisado: 04-20-16
The story is pretty good. The reader is a HUGE problem. But it is probably not the readers fault. Rather it is the fault of whoever is directing the Recording. I have over 400 books in my library. I have an original audible account. But I have never come across such horrendous recording. Bacall the problem is simple. the reader drops his voice for effect. But to the Pont the words, and sentences, are indecipherable. For instance when a character is whispering, the reader also whispers -at whispering volume! Not a problem when you're reading a book. But if the reader talks so low that a listener can't listen, well, it's pretty pointless. But it doesn't stop there. Most of the womens voices were extremely low. I guess to give the female voice that soft feminine touch. But it is really poorly done. Voice lowered way below the point of uncomprehension. As I'm listening in the car I had one hand on the volume knob. Whenever I expected a female voice I would raise the volume. Then turn it done for narration and make voices. Pretty annoying! Out of all 400 plus books this was the MOST frustrating book I've ever listened to. And it could have, with a simple change, been a good listen. The story was good, if unrealistic. I suggest you are better off reading this one rather than listening. I will stay away from this reader and Director in the future
