Hard for an ADHD’er to listen to
Revisado: 07-07-24
I felt like there was some good info in this book. I was a bit turned off when she suggested you report stuff on social media. Nope…. Just keep scrolling, I don’t need to stick my nose in other people’s stuff.
The info felt like another list of “To-do’s” which is a bit overwhelming. Hydrate more, go out and walk more. etc
Lastly…. She should have paid a voice actor instead of reading this herself. Even listening at a faster speed, the book was dry and monotone. I HAVE ADHD…. You can’t be monotone and keep my attention.
My ADHD and her ADHD are not alike.
Again, the info can be helpful. Might be worth noting that I don’t typically feel compelled to leave reviews. I’m hoping this was included in my Audible subscription and I didn’t pay for this book.

I feel Even More Overwhelmed
Revisado: 12-23-23
This book felt like making a to do list for my to do list. I already feel overwhelmed with tasks hence the need to get organized. This book did not feel like it was helping me. It felt like it was giving me more tasks.
Based on the title, I expected this book to address the mental part of clutter. I do not feel the author addressed it at all with the exception of saying messy people and fat people are just trying to keep from allowing people in.

Historia
One fateful starless night, 17-year-old Ira Wagler got up at 2 AM, left a scribbled note under his pillow, packed all of his earthly belongings into in a little black duffel bag, and walked away from his home in the Amish settlement of Bloomfield, Iowa. Now, in this heartwarming memoir, Ira paints a vivid portrait of Amish life - from his childhood days on the family farm, his Rumspringa rite of passage at age 16, to his ultimate decision to leave the Amish Church for good at age 26.

I enjoyed this book
Revisado: 11-08-23
I listen to a lot of memoirs. I appreciated this story and the honesty of what Ira faced as an Amish man that struggled with a faith that was thrust upon him. We often don’t choose our religion, it’s taught to us based on what our family believes. Although I’m wasn’t born to an Amish family, I can empathize with this struggle.
I would recommend this book to others that enjoy memoirs. If you’re looking for something racey or full of excitement, this might not be the book for you.

Great content, audio not for the neurodiverse
Revisado: 01-30-23
I found the content in this book to be helpful. The performance felt like a monotone robotic run on. Being neurodiverse, I struggled to stay focused and backed the audio up multiple times.
