The narrators are not new to me and always do a great job. The author is not new to me either, but I wonder if this was her earlier writing? I wonder this because there were a lot of repetitive phrases that began to drive me crazy (ex. smile sexily), and the fact that the Ashley is American but uses British words and slang. There is a lot of smexy time so if you enjoy that in your stories you're in for a treat. I enjoyed the story, I only wish the writing was better for this one.

Such a sweet short story about love and meeting the right person when you least expect it. Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber did a great job, as always.

[ALC Audiobook Review]

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
Performance: 4 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed the story of Casey and Gareth so much. Kilt To Order is a small-town friends to lovers romance between a bookish nerd fmc and a cinnamon-roll firefighter highland games mmc. Casey is a 28 year old virgin that hasn't had a date since the tenth grade. On a whim she asks one or her best friends and roommate if he would help her lose her innocence and overcome the nervous habit she can't seem to overcome of sneezing anytime a man makes a move.

Initially Gareth declines Casey's offer, but once he learns first-hand just how much her lack of experience is weighing on her self-esteem he agrees to help, and things are never the same. As things unfold, the truth of their friendship comes to light whereas each realize just how much the other means to him/her.

The story is told through a dual point of view and does not include a third act breakup. Both Casey and Gareth undergo important life lessons during the story that create an even stronger friendship and cement their true feeling for one another.

Callie Dalton and Lee Samuels did a awesome job depicting Casey and Gareth. As someone who also listened to Pint of Contention by Susannah Nix, where the highland games gang was introduced I can't wait to hear more from these characters. I was sent a free audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

I love Emily Henry books and this one did not disappoint. Similar to People We Meet On Vacation, Happy Place gave me all the feels. The story revolves around six friends that have known each other since college and annually the group meet up at Sabrina's family vacation home, but this year is their last hurray. Sabrina's family is selling the home, and for the one couple who are secretly no longer engaged - Harriet and Wynn, they choose to pretend they are still a couple as to not ruin everyone's last group visit and in true romance form this leads to conflicting feelings and conflict.

As someone who didn't grow up with a strong group of friends that were basically family and people I would do anything for, Happy Place opened up a world that I know nothing about. The struggles this group of friends go through was very touching for me. Although they've each grown apart in their own ways, they are always there for each other.

Julia Whelan's acting skills left me in tears, with goosebumps or with am enormous smile. I honestly don't know if I would love Emily Henry's books as much if it wasn't for the fact that I've listened to them all via audiobook with Julia Whelan as the narrator.

As for Harriet and Wynn, their breakup isn't really explained until we are pretty far along in the story, however I felt the attraction and love they still have for each other. After college and their engagement, their lives end up such that neither could make the other truly happy. Harriett made Wynn promise to break off their lives together before things ever got too bad. So one late night over a twenty minute phone call they ended things.

Without giving away any spoilers I just have to say that Happy Place is worth the listen. Worth the time, and worth the slow burn between Harriet and Wynn. As usual Emily Henry sprinkles literary metaphorical brilliance throughout the book. Topics include the loss of a family member, drug use, pregnancy, mental illness, troubled family dynamics. The only reason I didn't give the audiobook five stars is because I felt it was slightly lacking in amount of usual witty banter I have come to love from the author.

I can't say enough good things about this audiobook. Tears were shed and laughs were had. The Devil Wears Black is my idea of the perfect love story, so full of beautiful sentiments, personal growth and all the feels.

Powerful love story with nontraditional HEA

I am speechless. I loved everything about this book. This is my first of manys. My first JT Geissinger book. My first audiobook narrated by Troy Duran and Tara Langella, and my first duet style audiobook. The narrators did a phenomenal job, and the production of this duet style ruined me. I may never want a duel narration again.

I went blindly into Pen Pal and don't regret a damn thing. Yes, it's not your typical romance, or traditional HEA, but IT IS a powerful, suspenseful, erotic, steamy and amazing story that will leave your mind blown. The ending left me in tears- happy tears; with all of my questions answered.

The story does involve unaliving and mental illness and can be triggering for some so please read the content warning by the author.

I recommend this book to anyone who isn't afraid to stray from the norm and read a nontraditional love story that will leave a mark on your soul.

My absolute favorite part of the book:
“You found me,” I whisper, crying tears of joy. He rubs his cheek against mine, breathing me in as he holds me tight. “I never lost you. Who do you think has been ringing the doorbell this whole time?”

I didn't think it was possible. After reading book 1 and 2 I didn't imagine she could create a couple I loved even more, but she did. I started off not really caring for Riley and Malek, but once they wound up in Russia it all changed. J.T. Geissinger masterfully weaved together their love story and left me with goosebumps. I felt so much for these two. I cannot wait to begin the final book, although I am sad it will come to an end. Narrators Michelle Sparks, Troy Duran and Brooke Daniel's excelled again with their vocal talents. If I could give this more than five stars I would.

A steamy and descriptive mafia romance

Little Bird is a story of revenge. Alexander Silver is the King of his city as was his father before him and so on. After Marcus Valentine kills Alex's mother- the only woman he ever loved in a failed attempt to overtake the city, Alex (Lex) is hell bent on avenging her death, and what better way than to kidnap Wren- the beautiful daughter of Valentine.

Wren ended up being a lot more than Lex expected. Not only did she put up one hell of a fight, she never stopped and it only amplified the instant chemistry between them. The consistent push and pull between Wren and Lex was palpable and both Joe Arden and Lucy Rivers did an excellent job portraying their characters emotions and strong personalities.

Both the author and narrators were new to me, but as the book is a dark mafia romance (my favorite) I knew I wanted to give it a listen. Ria Wilde has the amazing skill of describing scenes to the most minute detail. I love that! There is plenty of violence so be prepared. Lex is the monster under your bed. I can't wait to listen to Book 2 to see how the story concludes. I was sent a free audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Boy was this a ride!

This is my first Kennedy Mitchell book and boy was it a great ride. The beginning felt like it took more time than needed to get started but once the story was laid out it picked up and was a fast-paced story of love, a unique and special friendship between two male friends, a mother protecting her son at all costs, chemistry that could not be denied and a tense suspenseful edge of your seat serial killer story with just the right amount of steamy love scenes and FBI criminal content. I was already a huge lover of romantic suspense and forced proximity, but have never read or listened to an audiobook with MFM scenes, until now and whoa kitten I have found my newest favorite romance kink to add to my list of favorites.

Neva Nevarre did an amazing job portraying the tiny spitfire that is Remington, yet also displaying the fear and anxiety she feels with her emotionally charged past that she is desperate to kept hidden. Having left her a past behind so that no one could find her she keeps herself in shape, and learned self-defense to protect herself. [Insert scenes where she tasered and kneed Tallon and Jameson in their privates on two separate occasions while protecting herself from what she accidently perceived as “stranger danger.” Those scenes definitely had me laughing out loud.]

Let’s not forget Teddy Hamilton and his amazing performance. He did not disappoint one tiny bit. This is the first audiobook I have listened to where he portrayed a possessive, always in control Alpha male in and outside of the bedroom. His vocal talents help to easily distinguish Jameson from Tallon regardless of them being in multiple scenes together with Remi.

This is book 6 in the Protection series but you do not have to have read the prior books to pick this one up. I am however greatly intrigued the other backstories and definitely will be adding the earlier books to my TBR list. I was sent a free audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review in my own words.

Cute second chance workplace romance

Lucy didn’t mean to break Tanner King’s heart. Every time she runs into him since they broke up he looks like he hates her. She thought she could deal with his resentment, but when he starts working at the desk across from hers, she knows they need a truce. Problem is there's this one thing that's threatening the fragile peace they've negotiated: all the inconvenient feelings she apparently still has for him.

This is the second book of Susannah Nix's King Family series and I found myself giggling at Lucy's personality. She is straight up adorable. Tanner is a down to earth guy who is determined to forge his own way in life, rather than continue to feel pressured by his father to stay within the family business.

Lucy and Tanner are soul mates; both of which grow a lot in this coming of age novel. Together they make great strides in overcoming the deep rooted insecurities their parent(s) unknowingly ingrained into them. As with the other two books, the narrators were perfectly suited to portray their characters. Chris Brinkley, for the young, lost but thoughtful and ingenious Tanner, and Amanda Stribling as the cute cheerleader-like personality of Lucy.

While second chance romances aren't usually my thing I wasn't disappointed one bit with everything else going on amongst the King siblings and supportive friends. I look forward to learning more about them all. I was sent a free book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
